Purpose: Oversees and manages a team of employees in a designated location, ensuring compliance with Excel and Planet Fitness policies, practices and objectives. Ultimately responsible for gym operations to ensure an exceptional member experience through +1 customer service, as well as a financially successful club.
•Lead the Assistant Manager (AM) in planning and implementing strategies to attract and keep customers based on our Excel Core Values.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Utilize performance tracker to be in line with company metric expectations.
•Oversee, supervise and motivate staff to perform to their best abilities.
•Identify hiring and training needs by ensuring that the AM and all staff meets Excel standards.
•Conduct regular audits to ensure the store is presentable and holding up to Excel standards.
•Lead by example and make sure all employees adhere to company’s policies and guidelines and address actions to that do not comply with set practices in a timely manner.
•Communicate with members and create a high level of customer service.
•Coordinate and interview potential employees, complete new hire paperwork and submit to HR, and train new hires.
•Work with RM, AM, and HR on conducting team member counseling, corrective actions and terminations.
•Perform daily club inspections, assign cleaning or associated tasks, along with re-inspecting said task.
•Enter work orders into Fitness EMS and help manage the completions of work orders with allocated maintenance technicians.
•Hold employees accountable for meeting company standards, audit daily paperwork, resolving day to day customer issues, and follow through with necessary coaching and or performance management.
•Cultivate the next generation of leaders within the club by proactively identifying the strengths
and training opportunities for each staff member. Encourage personal and professional development of the team by holding regular discussions to align individual goals with his/her Excel career path.
•Work closely with the AM to prepare him/her for a future GM role through cross-training, delegation, mentoring, and ongoing performance feedback.
•Manage club inventory and communicate with AM and HQ on placing necessary orders.

Excel Fitness Holdings Position Description
•Maintain availability while off shift as club direct contact to help field club questions and or emergencies.
•Will be responsible to oversee club operations at all times and ensure all work shifts are covered.
•Will fill in for the Assistant Manager when he/she is unavailable to work scheduled shift.
•Required to be on call during company Peak Season/Sale Expirations when needed to support
•HS diploma or equivalent required.
•At least six (6) months of equivalent management experience required. Prefer prior experience as Qualifications:
an Assistant Manager with Excel Fitness.
•Proven ability to lead, encourage, develop and supervise the work of others.
•Familiar with Excel mission, values, vision, and culture, as well as the Planet Fitness brand and operational requirements

•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; Datatrak; Fitness EMS and other related applications. Supervisory Responsibility: This position will oversee up to 15 employees at one location, as well as one Assistant Manager. Will ensure team can adequately exhibit and maintain all Excel values, principles, and duties, as well as meets established club performance metrics.
Budgetary Responsibility: This position will be authorized to spend up to $250 in club-related expenses or maintenance per incident. May also issue discretionary bonuses to staff as approved by the RM. Work Environment: This job operates in a fitness club environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, fax machines and phones. The noise level in the club environment may be loud on a regular basis.

Excel Fitness Holdings Position Description
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, exempt position. Under the Regulations, Part 541, an exempt employee is one who is not entitled to the minimum wage or overtime pay protections of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Days and hours of work are Monday-Friday between 9am-9pm. This position may work outside of the established work schedule for any Assistant Manager or employee shifts on the weekends and/or overnights as needed to ensure the club is open and running smoothly. Work hours are subject to change at any time dependent on business needs.
Travel: Up to 5% travel is expected for this position for employee events, trainings or conferences. Overnight trips may be necessary if traveling outside of the local area.
