Employment Summary
Lead Frontend Engineer, Amazon Co-Branded Credit Cards, March 2022 - Current, Amazon Seattle 1. Led the design and development of Amazon co-branded credit card servicing features, like bill payment, view transactions, and view statements using React, Redux, and GraphQL. This reduced customer friction of navigating to a partner website to manage cards. Since launch, 20% of active customers have used servicing features in Amazon compared to going on chase website.
2. Designed and developed a secure way to ingress/egress confidential data for Amazon Credit cards. This helped reduce the number of red apps [apps that were exposing confidential data like SSN in the frontend] from 7 to 3 between 2022 and 2024.
Software Developer, AWS Marketplace, Feb 2016 - Feb 2022, Amazon Seattle 1. Led a team of 5 engineers for the development of a self-service offer ingestion tool. Reduced offer creation time from ~3 days to 40 minutes. The tool incrementally supported 8 different offer type combinations and 4 different user types. The self-service tool supports the offer ingestion life cycle of an offer and agreement management between the manufacturer, seller of record, servicing partner, Amazon, and buyer. Total yearly headcount savings of 3.
2. Reduced number of apps required for offer ingestion from 6 to 1. Between 2015 and 2019, there were 6 different tools built by different teams in the AWS marketplace for creating offers. I designed and developed the Offer ingestion platform and onboarded all these different product types, reducing the effort of maintaining 6 different tools.
3. Reduced feature development time by 60% (avg) in SDE days by creating reusable UI components and models for self-service offer ingestion tool frontend. Each new product type launch benefited from previous products' reusable UI components; therefore, we had incremental savings in development effort. Web Development Engineer, June 2013 - February 2016, Amazon Hyderabad, India 1. Reduced ASIN maintenance costs by up to 99% for most ASINs by developing a product customization tool for Amazon Retail. This tool allows sellers to create numerous design combinations using a single ASIN [previously each design would be an ASIN of its own]. Buyers can upload their own images and choose from hundreds of fonts, colors, and seller-uploaded images to customize their products. 2. Replaced backend image processing library with in-browser HTML 5 canvas and SVG file output. This reduced the initial file loading times by up to 95% using the File API; this eliminated the wait times for uploading and downloading files from S3. The use of the SVG file format improved backend image processing time by 90%. No need to manipulate the image, as it is a link to S3 bucket in an SVG file. UI DEVELOPER Sep 2012 - June 2013 eARC Kolkata, India 1. Enhanced the user experience of large file uploads by using web workers, ensuring a non-blocking UI. This allowed users to continue using the application seamlessly while the file upload was in progress. 2. Developed single-page application iShipDocs using AngularJS, this allows users to manage large media files online. Users can create versions of documents, allow access permissions, and share documents with other users. SOFTWARE ENGINEER Aug 2011 - Sep 2012, Ness Technologies Bengaluru, India 1. Worked on Singapore Airlines mobile web application, flight status, Manage Booking, and Contact US
(geolocation-based) modules.
2. Developed a user-agent-based device detection algorithm that matched (with a marginal improvement of 3%) the accuracy of 3rd party library WURFL.
