Nurse practitioner - I have worked on a per diem status at the correctional facility over the past nine years, however, created the initial position of nurse practitioner within the SM Co. correctional facility upon my graduation from school in July 1987. I wrote the proctors/standardized procedures and the position was approved by the SM Co board of supervisors. I worked full time for two years and then returned on a per diem status later. I provided health care including wound care, surgical procedures, diabetic care, asthma care, multiple medical entities within this population. In 2006 I continued to work occasionally within the correctional facility but also within the primary care clinic at the San Mateo hospital/clinics. I provided health care to multiple ethnic groups, all adults, women’s health care, some urgent care, geriatric care. I also worked per diem in the adolescent clinics at Sequoia High School and in Daly City. Due to a county budget cut and a decrease in per diem staff I was not able to continue in this status.
