I worked every position there was to work at McDonald's, from Store Activities Representative (scheduling and hosting birthday parties, handing out coupons and coordinating with local schools for community events, fundraisers, and Ronald McDonald visits, and working with Ronald McDonald House Charities in the greater Fort Worth area.) to building maintenance,(physically scrubbing parking lots, fryers at 400 degrees, maintaining rooftop HVAC system, and merchandising windows) to grill area supervisor, to assistant manager, to finally general manager of my own location inside Walmart. I took over the store in 1999, and brought it from a floundering profit margin to over 25% by 2001. I won lots of accolades, recognition, and awards from my peers and superiors in corporate McDonald's. I did it by building a rapport and relationship with the Walmart employees and working with Walmart store management to make our relationship one of camaraderie and respect, which had not been in place before then.

I received formal training in customer service, food safety, and profit and loss from corporate McDonald's in Irving, TX. several times throughout my career there. I was also trained in human resources with regards to hiring and retaining employees. My turnover rate at one point was the lowest in the north Texas region of stores. My food cost was also always in the top 3 tier, the entire time I was general manager. Other duties included inventory and ordering product deliveries for the store, receiving those deliveries, handling of cash and deposits, using a digital point of sales system in which monthly changes were made to prices and products, training of assistant managers and employees, making the store's employee and manager schedule using specific software in its beta days, resolving and mediating any issues between employees and /or management, and interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees, as well as evaluating current ones.
