Food, Physical Activity, and Health Deserts in Alabama: How Access to Healthy Living is linked to Socioeconomic factors (2020)
Literature Review on Health Deserts in Alabama-Worked under the guidance of Professor Davis to conduct a comprehensive literature review exploring the intersection of food deserts, physical activity deserts, and health outcomes in Alabama. The project focused on how limited access to healthy living resources—such as nutritious food options, recreational spaces, and healthcare facilities—is closely tied to socioeconomic factors including income, education, and racial disparities. The review highlighted systemic barriers that perpetuate health inequities and informed strategies for improving community access to health-promoting environments.
