Peace Building and Capacity Development Foundation (PACDEF)

The Peace Building and Capacity Development Foundation (PACDEF) works to build peace in communities in conflict by developing and disseminating strategies for alternatives to violence in response to conflict. It also addresses resource-based conflicts and has a desk for human rights and governance, which deals with issues of local participation and human rights through advocacy and civil education. My role is split across multiple areas: Programme, Administration, Human Resources, and Financial Management.
1.Programme Management
Ensuring leadership of programme implementation and respective operational support for PBCDF-related initiatives, including preparation – in consultation with project partners – of an annual work plan project implementation and monthly reports on project activities.
Identifying, supporting, and working with community-level beneficiaries through strategic intermediaries to meet the intended priority outcomes among the rights holders.
Monitoring program implementation progress, promoting thematic and sectoral synergies, and coordinating programme activities, ensuring their peacebuilding focus. Of note are project activities to reduce the vulnerability of girls and young women to child marriage, child trafficking, and commercial sexual exploitation and increase their access to economic empowerment.
Establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with government, CSOs, and other key stakeholders working in the space through deliberate relationship building and stakeholder engagement.
Engaging with civil society organizations and supporting capacity-building initiatives to conduct coordinated lobby and advocacy activities.
Representing the organisation at industry forums and strategic meetings. Engaging government and other stakeholders for successful implementation of programs through relationship-building and management.
Participating in donor meetings.
2.Finance and Administration Management
Leading, effectively managing, and supervising the program's implementation, including staff supervision, management of resources, and development of appropriate linkages with other actors.
Ensuring fair and transparent personnel management and procurement of goods and services per donor procurement requirements, organisational policies, and guidelines.
Establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships and mobilising additional resources to ensure cash flow.
Ensuring efficient financial management, advocacy, programming, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and representation. Successfully developed an internal finance monitoring system that has increased accountability.
Leading budgeting processes and conducting continuous forecasting, analysis, and monitoring of project budgets, including reviewing and submitting budget revisions.

3.Human Resource Management
Guiding and overseeing human resource management of the Programme, including procurement and logistical services, project staff supervision, and project implementation contracting - in line with donor rules and regulations.
Leading, managing, and supervising a PACDEF and consortium staff team to meet program objectives, including coordinating activities with partners, government, and CSOs.
Conducting periodic reviews of staff performance using the PACDEF performance management system. Mentors staff to ensure high motivation, commitment, capacity, and teamwork levels.
Managing the recruitment portfolio for the program, in collaboration with Human Resources and PACDEF program management, to ensure optimum service delivery by recruiting competent and qualified staff.
Developing terms of reference for all program consultants and ensuring they are fulfilling their tasks.
SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENTS
Conducted resource mobilisation for a UN Women Gender Peace and Security program, successfully implemented from 2015 – 2019.
Secured a grant for a small Climate and Gendered Analysis project in Ward 6 Gatsi, Mutasa District, implemented in 2021.
Successfully coordinated an annual 16 km walk with the City of Mutare to symbolise 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.
Coordinated Canadian Embassy-supported project "Strengthening Gender Sensitive Service Delivery in Zimbabwe City of Mutare." The project aimed to mitigate corruption, increase transparency and accountability, raise citizens' voices, and expand women's participation in local governance by training women in Human Rights, early warning system, and Gender.
