DESCRIPTION OF WARD / UNIT:
•Unit consists of Labour Ward / antenatal ward / postnatal ward and nursery
DAILY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Provide high quality prenatal and postal care to maximize women’s health during and after pregnancy detect problems early and manage or refer for any complications
•Coordinate care for all women ensuring holistic, voluntary, and social services for pregnant women when appropriate
•Plan, provide and review woman’s care from the initial antenatal assessment till postnatal period
•Counsel pregnant women on pre-natal care, nutrition, signs in pregnancy and childbirth common conditions experienced in pregnancy, signs of labour etc.
•Counsel on family planning and offer information regarding different methods
•Advise on birth plan and birth preparedness
•Recording all information correctly in antenatal record to ensure continuity of care
•Manage obstetrics emergencies competently
•Able to assess if a patient is and labour and manage accordingly
•Manage a patient in early and established labour
