EXPERIENCE:
June 2023 Middletown Medical – Middletown, N.Y.
to May 2024 Receptionist – After joining Middletown Medical in June of 2023, I underwent training for a
one-month period. After my training, I then became the sole receptionist in the Ophthalmology Department which consisted of two ophthalmologists, one optometrist and three to four eye technicians who performed all the testing on the patients. I worked directly with all staff in that department on a support level. In that position I checked in all patients for their appointments on the scheduler. At the end of their appointment they all checked out with me and staff in the computer would let me know when follow-up appointments needed to be set up which I did. That department would have anywhere between 40 and 60 appointments set up each day. As Middletown Medical is a business, one of the biggest job duties was to collect copays and payments on account. Once I was trained in the insurance verification and collecting copays, that became a very important part of my job. In the approximate 10-month period that I was collecting the copays and payments on account I brought in over $63,000 for Middletown Medical. I was very proud of that as some departments who saw approximately the same number of patients each day brought in much less than that even when they had numerous receptionists in their department.
