To Whom It May Concern;
Thank you for taking time to read this and my resume. I would appreciate the opportunity to represent you and prove my worth to your organization. I have been involved in many different types of businesses over the years. I have always proven to be a producer and someone who tries to improve the image of the company I am working for. In my last position with MDS Communications I was contracted to The Heritage Foundation. They are a conservative thinktank in Washington DC. During my time representing them I earned six commendations for performance and always strived to show them in the best light. I can do the same for your organization.
Prior to that I was either the owner or part owner for 3 different PRO’s (Professional Organizations). The largest one was Southwest Resources where we grew the business to over
$50,000,000 prior to selling it in 2009. While I was there, however, I also owned a small trucking company and I raced professionally off-road for Ford,, BF Goodrich, and Best Western. Prior that I worked for Varian Ultrasound, inventors of the first real-time ultrasound machines. I was purchasing agent and purchased everything from electronic components to cabinetry. Prior to that I worked for Marquardt Engineering in aerospace development as a purchasing agent. I have had a varied background including being an Army veteran in the active service in SE Asia as well as in the Utah National Guard for 7 years. I was in the Army Security Agency and was primarily concerned with communications.
Please give me consideration for this position and permit me the opportunity to address any questions you may have regarding my background.
Thank You
Gary Mecham

# COMMUNICATOR
When this theme is dominant, you can’t stop engaging. Every person, every situation is a way to connect, to listen to and learn from others. The exchange is what’s exciting to you, getting people to open up and tell you what they think and how they feel. This talent is less about telling and more about asking – becoming a catalyst for communication and understanding. There could be some who see conversation as distraction and noise; this fails to recognize the fundamental contribution of your talent - helping 4/30/25, 1:24 PM YOUR TALENTSET 2023
https://survey.yourtalentset.com/s3/ee9baf6a40ae 1/9 people express their true point of view. This is the domain of the COMMUNICATOR, creating feelings of being understood. You know the secret to effective communication is not the ability to speak but the impact on the listener, who needs to become a full partner in the communication process. You may love to speak (formally and informally) but you aren’t the old school orator focused on the sound of his/her voice, but the spirit of shared understanding.
Challenge: For situations when leadership focuses energy on “telling” rather than asking.
The traditional organizational hierarchy impresses upon leaders the importance of their role in setting direction, vision and goals. This tends to stress a more “old school” (command and control) view of leaders as directors of action, this may be a bit frustrating for COMMUNICATORS. Recognize that some talents really are more about the “telling” than
“engaging” and staying in that framework is natural. Offer/volunteer to provide thought provoking questions – or emcee the meeting to bring people into the conversation. You know success depends upon individuals feeling heard and acting as owners of the culture or the change. If there is little willingness to ask in the workplace, seek avenues where you can bring engaging ways to promote meaningful dialogue and ownership. The response of team members will be naturally reinforcing and may help you lead the way.
How has COMMUNICATOR driven your thoughts, feelings or behavior today?
What ideas/plans will you discuss with others?
# SERVICE CENTRIC
The name of this theme is a key to its beautiful contribution to any environment. Customer, Client, Service Centric – people are the beneficiaries of your “serving others focus.” Perhaps it could be called EVERYBODY CENTRIC, because it doesn’t really matter to you who the people are. Being of service to people, seeing them benefit from your attention and focus is a natural energizer for you. When this talent is 4/30/25, 1:24 PM YOUR TALENTSET 2023
https://survey.yourtalentset.com/s3/ee9baf6a40ae 2/9 dominant, it flows spontaneously well beyond the workplace into all the places of your life: making you the person who offers coffee to co-workers, opens doors for strangers, finds resources for friends, offers to help with anything your colleagues, co-workers, clients or customers may need. The service itself is rewarding to you and the impact on the recipient is satisfying and restorative to you.
Poor service attitudes irritate you. Why become a service provider if you don’t enjoy it - is your attitude. When this theme is non-evident, people can see service as “servitude”, feeling like the role is demeaning. Others possibly don’t understand you. How you can be as patient and helpful as you are in the face of continued customer interactions. Why you never seem to be “burned out” when those around you need a break. They don’t understand that energy comes from the giving. Challenge: When customer service isn’t valued enough to provide the right resources/support.
It is painful for you to be in situations where serving people isn’t supported or valued. You won’t stop, but not having the time or the right resources will drain and frustrate you. Short term, you may want to find champions for service among your colleagues; making the case for change can potentially create more belief in your point of view.
Removing yourself from the situation may be the best option long-term if you cannot create a change within. There are other ways to serve, of course. And your talent is attuned to find them with associates and internal partners as well as customers and clients.
How has SERVICE driven your thoughts, feelings or behavior today? Whom and how do you serve others?
# FUTURISTIC
When FUTURISTIC is Dominant, your boundless energy to envision a better future is inspirational to your team and organization. It is your capacity to see beyond “what is” to “what could be” that grows a goal into a challenging vision. It takes some ego and commitment to claim these visions, and it takes a community to make them happen, but nothing great 4/30/25, 1:24 PM YOUR TALENTSET 2023
https://survey.yourtalentset.com/s3/ee9baf6a40ae 3/9 starts without the picture of a better way or world. In the simplest of terms, you simply cannot leave the status quo alone.
There may be some who mutter the term “dreamer” under their breath. Rest assured that this is a testimony to the strength of your belief in and commitment to a better tomorrow. It also signifies the difficulty some have to separate from what is long enough to create a completely different paradigm, i.e., what could be.
Frustrations are probably highest for you when leadership’s focus is short- term and your visions and drives are dismissed as unrealistic. It is not unusual to find talented visionaries in consulting, higher education and successful entrepreneurs, where the ultimate outcome is a more powerful reinforcer than the daily gratification of scores. Tolerance for the vision may not be high enough in more traditional organizations to appreciate breakthrough thinking and visions in the middle ranks. Yet arguably one of the greatest challenges of traditional organizations is to re-invent the organization and the future with it.
Thank your FUTURISTIC talent which brings energy and vividness to the future for those who will help you achieve it. It is the fire for future which both inspires you and helps you make a contribution to every group/situation to which you commit.
Challenge: For situations where goals and objectives are short-term, and the future is being created through minor modifications. For you, hearing the doors shut due to practicalities around the current situation (no money, no time, no resources), can be frustrating and disheartening. If it ain’t broke - don’t fix it. Don’t they know the future isn’t a destination arrived at, but a place we create in the present? You have options, too! Short-term, you may want to fully explore the “no’s” as the barriers they represent are probably tied to needs that cry out for innovative thinking. Try shortening your pictures in time frame and scope and embrace the task of creating “tweaks” that make a difference. Once your ideas start showing value, bringing results, the time frames and scope may expand.
Long-term, you might need to find an outlet for your talent in other areas or other paths. Since the energy is slamming to get out and be utilized, you might think of philanthropic, social, or service organizations to which you could well contribute.

# FOCUSED
When Focus is Dominant, plans, goals and priorities are as natural as breathing. There simply isn’t a time or place of any significance that doesn’t benefit from your clarity in defining what is to happen, when and how. That contribution is a game changer for those with inspiration, as your energy drives the “get it done” structure so often needed by teams and organizations.
Maybe you are sometimes chided by those who are energized by chaos or unpredictability in the name of “fun” or “innovation”, but that is recognition to be cherished, as they are the people who will most depend upon you to set direction when importance or urgency requires results. Frustrations for you are probably highest when leadership set the vision without the framework or operational structure to achieve it; your best move will be to step up and fill in the goals and steps that others will need for execution.
Thank your Focus for bringing order and clarity, for setting priorities and then attending to them with the seriousness they deserve. Challenge: In situations of chaos and endless brainstorming. Your tendency is probably to avoid chaotic situations – if you aren’t in charge; others may miss the destination as they explore the areas “off the path.” Remind yourself that a few excursions off the path may lead to insights that will deliver exemplary results, provided you are there to incorporate them into the goals, timeline and process. If the group or goal is important to you, step up to the plate. Offer help to create the plan. This is hard work for those without the talent, and your talent will bring the clarity this group or mission needs. If unimportant, your option is to get involved and step up to the plate; OR stay and make notes of the relevant ideas that can be successfully incorporated into the plan. At some point the group is going to need the structure. In some cases (non-work, social, where the mission or outcome is 4/30/25, 1:24 PM YOUR TALENTSET 2023
https://survey.yourtalentset.com/s3/ee9baf6a40ae 5/9 not compelling, etc.) you may choose to leave the group to their own chaos, with your best wishes.
How has FOCUSED driven your thoughts, feelings or behavior today? Note your most inspiring goals:
# PURPOSE
Having a purposeful life drives your energy, one filled with meaningful contributions to people, at work, in community and in your family. You lead with unwavering values, and when “on purpose” there is no unimportant task that serves others. Purposeful energy is sustainable through hardship, impracticality and non-recognition; its coming from your belief and values. Changes will be quickly adopted when the “why” and “who it benefits” are clear.
Metrics without mission are a turnoff; simply driving faster isn’t what inspires you. In situations without remembrance of why and who we serve, work can become a hollow chase for a meaningless goal. Something you must avoid or accept only if it serves your true purpose. People with dominant PURPOSE share the underlying basis in their personal values and beliefs, yet they are not all alike. What they believe in and their specific values will vary substantially but will always be other- oriented (beyond their self). The other orientation aspect of this theme makes it possible for PURPOSE driven individuals to find purpose in many situations and walks of life, providing they can see how what they do matters.
Challenge: For situations where you cannot see the point of the work and the emphasis is quantitative.
For you, metrics, dollars, growth percentages will carry little interest if not tied to purpose. You can and will find excitement and reinforcement from them if your TalentSet includes motivational drives like COMPETITOR, but to be fully inspired they must compliment your need to make a difference. If you cannot find purpose in work life, you may need to find it through family, volunteer, church or other organizations that resonate with your 4/30/25, 1:24 PM YOUR TALENTSET 2023
https://survey.yourtalentset.com/s3/ee9baf6a40ae 6/9 values and need to contribute. The energy that comes from purposeful pursuit will carry over to other endeavors.
How has PURPOSE driven your thoughts, feelings or behavior today? What is meaningful work for you?
# ANALYST
Approaching situations fires perspective. All things examined dispassionately in methodical ways; historical, evidential, dispassionate analysis energizes you. Stripping out the facts from the marketing fluff and tracing likely outcomes is automatic, more a way of experiencing than a learned procedure. Because the process of discovery and analysis is inherently energy producing, this is a theme that drives the mastery of analytical methods, tools, ideas.
The analytical never stops even in situations which don’t actually scream out for it (movies, events), so it’s likely you have taken some heat for “taking the fun out of stuff.” What can amaze you still is how others can’t see the unsupported generalizations in arguments, or the possible scenarios resulting from various decisions.
Like other dominant talents, ANALYST permeates your experience in a unique and highly valuable way. The challenge is often that others lead more from emotion in contrast to the rational frame from which you view events. Maybe this difference can be perceived as negative by some, but that perception stems from their TalentSet more than yours; critical thinking isn’t biased.
Thank your ANALYST: while the excitement is high and the ACTIVATORS are pushing for movement your talent may slow the process and could very well be the difference between success and failure. All the more reason to be strategic in its use.
Challenge: For situations where others don’t appreciate your logic. While those around you may feel “drained” by the scientific process, asking you to turn it off is draining to you. It may make you feel numb. While you could hold back on the analysis of ice cream scoops sizes at the birthday party, it might be better to let your talent flow and just not detail 4/30/25, 1:24 PM YOUR TALENTSET 2023
https://survey.yourtalentset.com/s3/ee9baf6a40ae 7/9 the process. You revel in the interconnections and logic, and it’s tempting to share that – but sometimes the solution is more important: Chocolate. Leading with the solution will increase your credibility and impact. It will also make others ask about the process that yielded it. How has ANALYST driven your thoughts, feelings or behavior today? What has fired your critical thinking?
