Dear Hiring Committee,
I am writing to express my interest in the Adjunct Professor position in Education at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. With over two decades of experience in early childhood and elementary education, combined with extensive work in literacy coaching, intervention, professional development, and higher education instruction, I am confident in my ability to contribute to your academic community.
Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a deep commitment to the advancement of literacy instruction and educator preparation. As an Adjunct Instructor at the University of South Carolina Aiken, I taught Assessment of Reading in Early Childhood Education, a required course for Read to Succeed certification. In this role, I provided pre-service teachers with critical skills in universal screening, diagnostic assessments, progress monitoring, and data-driven intervention planning. My work as an Instructional and Literacy Coach at East Aiken School of the Arts further reflects my expertise in facilitating professional development, co-teaching, mentoring teachers, analyzing assessment data, and designing tiered intervention plans to support diverse learners.
My educational background, including a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University and multiple literacy certifications (including R2S Literacy Coach and Literacy Specialist endorsements), has prepared me to deliver high-quality instruction aligned with current research and best practices. Additionally, my training in evidence-based programs such as LETRS, Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading, and SPIRE positions me to bridge theory and practice effectively for future educators.
I am passionate about fostering reflective, research-driven teaching practices and equipping students with the tools necessary to meet the diverse needs of today’s learners. It would be an honor to bring my experience, enthusiasm, and dedication to student success to the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to your program and support the next generation of educational leaders.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Quattlebaum Entzminger
