Accomplishments included: (1) reorganization of nursing staff to define clear spans of control with fewer management positions, (2) developed orientation for nursing staff that allowed cross-training within clinical specialties for better utilization of resources, (3) instrumental in the opening of the first Day Surgery Clinic at UTMB, (4) developed manual patient charge system (on trial basis) to capture revenue from patient charge items in clinics, (5) played a role in the planning, implementation and ongoing operation of the first Life Flight helicopter program at UTMB.

Nursing Supervisor - Ambulatory Services (1979 – 1980) Supervised nursing staff who provided care as well as provided direct care to OB and GYN patients. Recommended staffing levels and equipment needs. As supervisor for nursing, responsible for nursing staffing levels, hiring and counseling of employees, and made recommendations for personnel actions. Accomplishments include: (1) increased number of nursing staff in clinical areas from six to twenty and decreased expenditures and increased quality of patient care, (2) developed specialty roles for nurses within the clinical areas, (3) rotated call with inpatient nursing service to provide 24 hour administrative coverage, (4) developed patient-teacher learning modules, (5) instrumental in setting up regular team meetings that included nursing, medical administrative and support staff.
