ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Gesture Control Robot with Robotic Arm Fall 2023
•Designed and built a robotic arm controlled via real-time hand gestures using accelerometer and Arduino microcontroller.
•Integrated MEMS-based accelerometer sensors (ADXL335) with Arduino Uno to map hand motions to robotic arm movements.
•Implemented wireless communication using RF modules for transmitting gesture data from the glove to the robot.
•Developed servo motor control logic to perform pick-and-place operations through gesture recognition.
•Calibrated and tested hand gestures for precision-controlled motion across 5 degrees of freedom (DOF).
•Ensured safe mechanical movement using limit switches and real-time signal validation techniques.
•Documented project using system diagrams, circuit schematics, and testing results for academic and technical reviews.
Metal Matrix Composites Fabrication Jan 2020 – Sept 2020
•Fabricated Hybrid Metal Matrix Composites (HMMCs) using AA6061-T6 aluminum alloy reinforced with Al O and SiC particles via Friction Stir Processing (FSP).
•Optimized key process parameters—tool rotational speed, traverse speed, and reinforcement type—using Taguchi Design of Experiments (L9 Orthogonal Array).
•Conducted mechanical property tests including Vickers Microhardness, Surface Roughness (Mitutoyo SJ301), and Grain Refinement (Optical Micrography).
•Designed FSP tool and billet fixture using SolidWorks, simulating tool-material interaction before actual fabrication.
•Performed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to simulate thermal and structural effects during FSP for enhanced tool design validation.
•Results showed significant improvement in mechanical properties, particularly hardness and strength, due to grain refinement and homogeneous dispersion of reinforcements.
