Curriculum for ACES staff documentation training
1.First training session will cover what staff knows about the importance of proper, timely and complete documentation. This should take no more than 1-2 hours.
2.Explain the difference between reporting facts versus personal opinions. This should take 1-2 hours depending on extra time spent answering questions or clarifying information.
3.Lead staff through correctly documenting on PCR which is the first line of contact with participants. 1-2 hours
4.Lead staff on using the Progress notes for details outlining coaching or PSW strategies used while supporting the participants at their place of employment or in their home and the necessity of reporting in a professional manner since this document can potentially be sent to contracting agencies who request a copy. The importance of proper grammar and spelling. Using spell check to correct or replace misspelled words. Time for this will depend on individual staff’s needs. I can work one on one with those who need more help.
5.Ask staff to prepare a PCR and Progress Note using one of their participants and follow up with me and Management when completed.
I will follow up with the three of you as the lessons are completed. I would also like to work one on one with Tammy, so she’ll be familiar with what to look for when checking staff’s documentation.
Please review this outline and let me know if this is something that will be helpful or, suggestions on what might need to be added or changed.
