PROJECTS
Malware Detection Using Deep Learning Sept 2023-May 2025
Researcher
Collaborating with Bowie State University faculty on research to detect malware using deep learning techniques, specifically focusing on classifying malware into families.
Leveraging CNN and LSTM algorithms alongside BERT-based models to enhance malware detection accuracy for Android applications.
Implementing a malware detection system using Hugging Face Transformers, applied to the Kaggle Android Malware dataset containing 215 attributes extracted from Android applications.
Gaining hands-on experience in PyTorch, Python 3.8, and advanced model development for cybersecurity applications.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Battelle May 2024-Aug 2024
Cyber Trust and Analytics Intern
Conducted hardware assurance for integrated circuits to systematically detect and address flaws, vulnerabilities, and potential security risks in critical electronic devices. Collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the integrity and reliability of circuit designs, applying rigorous testing and analysis methods.
Spearheaded the backend development of an offline server equipped with a robust file-watching system, enhancing security and maintaining detailed logging protocols. Designed the solution to overcome the limitations of proprietary SEM APIs by enabling seamless connection and interaction with scanning electron microscopes (SEMs). This innovation facilitated the acquisition and stitching of high-resolution polygonal images from integrated circuits, optimizing the analysis process and supporting advanced hardware diagnostics.
Bowie State University May 2023-Aug 2023
LASR Intern
Conducted cybersecurity research at the Laboratory for Telecommunication Sciences (LTS), focusing on the provenance, relationships, and life cycle of operating system versions through comprehensive analysis of Linux distributions].
Investigated the history of package relationships to track changes, identify bug fixes, and assess vulnerabilities within package versions, applying findings to evaluate the overall security of applications on various operating systems.
Designed and implemented a scalable database to store package metadata, enabling efficient and swift querying to support detailed analysis.
Acquired hands-on experience with version control systems (Git), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) software (Docker), and database normalization and design (PostgreSQL). Developed proficiency in analyzing operating systems using Python, YAML, XML, JSON, and SQL.
