• Mighty Eyes (10/2022-07/2025) Auckland, NZ

Principal 3D Environment Artist

I had the pleasure of working with the passionate and talented team at Mighty Eyes, on a VR title named “Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate”. This is a story- driven, single-player action-adventure game, with numerous puzzles and platforming elements, taking place throughout various high-fidelity environments. This project was a big challenge for the team, in large part due to its core time-travel mechanic which allows the player to explore and dynamically interact with a number of large and unique locations across multiple time periods/eras. Optimization was a key factor to consider, as we needed the game to be scalable across vastly different hardware requirements, from standalone VR headsets (eg. Meta Quest 2), all the way up to high-end wired headsets (eg. PS5 Pro and PC). As a Principal 3D Artist, one of my main responsibilities was developing a large portion of the game’s 3D props and environments, which I took all the way through from iterative high-poly concept models to the final game-ready assets. This process included creating all the required UV maps, textures, materials, and collision meshes for all of those models. I worked in close collaboration with various artists, designers and programmers, and also assisted with further performance optimization and testing in the later stages of development.

I mainly use Maya for modeling, for specific hardsurface assets I use Fusion 360 and Zbrush for sculpting, bio meshes, retopology and adding some details on highpoly. My procedural material creation pipeline is Substance Painter and Designer, I also work with Quixel Mixer and Megascans.

In my current job, I work mostly with Unreal Engine 4 as a prop artist, I also use UE4 for most of my personal projects. Cryengine has always been of interest for me because of the unique lighting system and medium poly with the deferred decals technique, which found application in my personal projects. I keep my self up-to-date with Unity, especially with new features like HDRR workflow. All of my freelance for indie developers was in Unity. Education
