Objectives:

- I’m a Senor UNIX Engineer/Administrator, who looks to improve process to maintain systems, keeping them secure and up to date, using tools like Red Hat Ansible, Bash Shell, Perl, Python to automate systems security and ensure consistent product releases and updates. Worked in a variety of environments providing timely solutions to meet corporate security and production environments needs to support an ever increasing variety of applications.

- Evaluated various tools with potential to improve systems reliability, for ease of deploying and maintaining servers. Additionally the goal was the reducing ad-hock incidents causing end users issues and outages by being proactive in identifying potential risks and and providing viable solutions.

- Was successful in convincing the “Compute Services” department head, to allow on premise evaluation and testing of the RHEL Ansible and Ansible Tower automation applications. After testing and showing the potential to the department head, it was decided to make a significant investment in the Ansible and Ansible Tower. I met with several departments heads, who we felt would benefit with the adoption of Ansible. Ansible adoption is now wide spread at General Dynamics.

- Support other UNIX admins in resolving issues, as well as mentoring them in more effective methods of deploying updates and fixes.

- As a team member I resolve complex issues required for milt-national support.

- Microchip has +2000 Linux servers world wide used to develop products to needs of various customer in the automotive, aerospace, consumer businesses.

- Was tasked to find a suitable OS replacement for CentOS7 as it was to be EOL June 30 2024. The solution needed to be a sustainable, stable and cost effective solution. I evaluated 6 potential solutions. Tested methods for implementing updates to update 5000 servers via rebuild and in place processes. The requirement to perform updates including kernel updates without an outage, which would impact development. Of all the candidates only Almalinx 9 met or exceeded cooperate requirements. Evaluations proved time consuming and was eventually approved to be the cooperate replacement for CentOS7.

- Using Ansible created a security script to test 400 parameters and configuration changes need for MCH development applications.

- As result of a security issue with Solarwinds server monitoring application. I wrote a monitoring program with Ansible and Bash shell to check uptime on 400 servers and disk space usage of 4000 local disk volumes usage capacity and automatically increase capacity of any with usage of +95%

- Provided RHEL Ansible automation tools to update applications not supported by GD’s RHEL satellite servers.
