Duties include ensuring production databases are available, have reliable fail-over and recovery using RMAN and Oracle physical standby, and to perform maintenance and updates without impacting customers. Manage production reporting databases using Oracle logical standby and advanced replication (materialized views). Hiwire, Inc (Downtown LA) October 1999 to March 2003 – Manage a department of DBAs/developers providing critical data services to Hiwire. Was the primary DBA responsible for design, development and operation of mission-critical production 24x7 ad server database, data warehouse, customer and management reporting, and invoicing. Initial systems used Informix. All DBs converted to Oracle. Logical and physical data modeling of transactional and data warehouse DB.

Designed and developed a sophisticated inventory management system for Hiwire’s Internet ad server. Written in PL/SQL, the system uses historical ad data to predict and control ad delivery, targeting internet radio tuners by listener demographics and time-of-day.

Architected, designed and managed coding and implementation of a production reporting system. The current report system has three Oracle databases. A PL/SQL-based ETL system moves data from the operational DB to a staging DB then to a report DB. Internal users and customers view all reports using web browsers. Reports are generated by Perl scripts that access the report DB. The Perl scripts run on an Apache web server.

Developed and implemented previous versions of the reporting systems, one using Informix/Perl and another using Informix Metacube. Built a test reporting system using Oracle9ias Portal and Discoverer
