The Storm Response Unit (SRU) is a team of technical specialists and cost estimators with multi disciplined specialization in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Marine Engineering tasked with the scoping, site visits, inspection, assessments, design, construction administration and restoration of the Parks Department infrastructure ( Buildings, Parks, Playgrounds, Monuments, Landscapes, Statures, Piers and Jetties) damaged by the super storm hurricane Sandy.
Other than site visits, in some cases we utilized detailed drawing “take offs”, analysis of photos, Google Earth, damage assessment reports, discussions with users / maintenance staffs, operation personnel, park rangers, etc. to formulate a comprehensive representation of every damaged element of a facility.
I identified, formulated and completed final reviews of the Damage Description and Dimensions (DDD) required by FEMA to formulate and complete the Project Worksheet (PW). The DDD is a very specific, quantified and descriptive narrative representation of damaged elements (Buildings /Landscape /Playground etc) as well as an account of how the elements were damaged as a direct result of Sandy.
I developed Estimates utilizing RS Means Costworks and detailed Scope of Work (SOW) required to repair damages. I assisted in gathering, compiling and organizing documentations related to these projects including back-up documentation, notes, calculations, etc.
Worked collaboratively with team members to complete integrated systems’ analysis and descriptions including dimensions, capacities, loads, and potential hazard mitigation opportunities.
