I have been a Quality Consultant, Continuous Improvement Manager, Director of Quality Management/Improvement, and self-employed quality coach, facilitator, and quality improvement advisor since 1992. In 2007, I chose to leave the workforce to help my ailing parents, who passed away just 5 months apart in 2007. However, I have been active in many endeavors, including regular reading in the field of continuous improvement. This field is my passion. Director of Quality Improvement-Triple R Behavioral Health Foundation, Inc. 40 East Mitchell Drive, Suite #100, Phoenix, Arizona 85014. December 2004 to May 2005. Salary: $52,000 annually.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, provided key executive responsibilities including review and implementation of modern quality improvement techniques throughout an organization of 330 group home behavioral health technicians and administrative staff. Chaired the Safety Committee to ensure that continuous improvement techniques were implemented to enhance the safety of our group home consumers. Provided clinical process reviews and audits. Monitored and updated compliance with credentialing requirements with CARF, JCAHO, and the Arizona Department of Transportation Office of Behavioral Health Licensing and other agencies. Supervised quality improvement program coordinator staff.

Director of Quality Management-Centro de Amistad, Incorporated-8202 Avenida Del Yaqui, Guadalupe, Arizona 85283. June 2002 to December 2004. Salary: $46,000 annually.

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, created, implemented, reviewed, and evaluated a continuous improvement program that did not exist heretofore. Created and implemented policies, procedures, rules, and regulatory manuals containing continuous improvement strategies and requirements. Implemented process re-engineering tools and techniques. Ensured that the organization complied with new HIPAA regulations, and requirement with the Arizona Department of Transportation Office of Behavioral Health Licensing. clinical patient files for compliance the required state standards.

Attended meetings with the funding source (ValueOptions) and conducted staff training. Hired and supervised a staff of twelve case managers, behavioral health technicians, and therapists.

Self-employed Continuous Improvement QM/QI Facilitator, Coach, and Advisor

January 1997 to May 2002. (contractual agreement) Salary: Depends on client-$30-$60 per hour.

Founded Quality Resource Management in the fall of 1997 after the Arizona Department of Transportation closed the Quality Consulting Office and assigned 300 staff to the redeployment pool during a widespread reorganization effort. My first client was Presbytarian Service Agency, located near Northern Avenue and 23rd Street in Phoenix, a non-profit behavioral health organization. I was hired as an independent program evaluation consultant at $60 per hour where my duties were to evaluate and improve existing quality improvement methods, and help implement a culture of continuous improvement through coaching, facilitating, and current organizational processes.

Quality Consultant

Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT)-206 South 17th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85007.

December 1992 to September 1996. Salary: Approximately $30,000 per year.

Designed, implemented, and evaluated a statewide governmental agency continuous improvement program with a workforce of 4,300 staff. Chaired Executive Quality Committee composed of key department heads. Provided instruction in the use of continuous improvement tools and techniques such as formation of task teams, facilitation, and statistical process control. Traveled statewide to various organizational units to provide coaching, brainstorming, and instruction to formulate sustained continuous improvement task teams. Developed and implement the statewide employee recognition program known as the “better way program.” Created and maintained a detailed benchmark program to track cost savings through employee driven processes, and implemented process re-engineering strategies to enhance continuous improvement changes.
