Nirma has more than 24 years of operating experience. The group has integrated backward for the production of detergents and toilet soaps by establishing industrial chemical manufacturing facilities of Soda Ash (light and dense) (2800 TPD), Vacuum Evaporated Salt (Edible & Industrial)

(2400 TPD), Refined Sodium Bicarbonate (Food Grade) (400 TPD), Toilet Soap (200 TPD). Fatty Acid (150 TPD), Glycerin (167 TPD), Caustic Soda (750 TPD), Hydrochloric Acid (280 TPD) and its By-products like Chlorine Gas (665.2 TPD), Hydrogen (18.75 TPD) & Sodium Hypo Chlorite

(12 TPD), Cogeneration Plant (Steam & Power) (197.18 MW), Phosphoric Acid (Food Grade) (100 TPD) and Bromine (20 TPD).

Apart from those stated above, Nirma Ltd. Develop and implement EHS management systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

• Developed and implemented an Environmental management system and maintained the EMS records to ensure the compliance of the conditions stipulated in the statutory approvals like Environmental Clearance (EC) for the Expansion of existing products & addition of new products, five Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Clearances for the permission of Sea water withdrawal, laying pipeline for the disposal of effluents & for the development of Saltworks and three NOCs of Gujarat Maritime Board for the seawater intake and marine release of treated effluent in sea creek for the soda ash plant.

• Preparation of “Six monthly EC compliance reports” against the conditions stipulated in all issued EC & CRZ clearance and submission to the regional office of the MoEF & CC and the appropriate regulatory authorities as per the EIA notification 2006, issued by the MoEF

& CC.

• To coordinate and liaison (Technically & Administratively) with regulatory authorities like GPCB, CPCB, MOEF & CC during their inspection in plant visits and authorize the reply to Notices of entries, SCNs, and NODs issued by the agencies.

• To prepare and upload/submit the documents on GPCB- XGN for the various types of applications like ECC, CTE, CCA Renewal/Fresh

• Authorized for the various types of online payments like analysis & sampling charges, payment against CCA - CTE application etc.

• To comply with the conditions mentioned in the six GPCB Consolidated Consents for the various plants like Soda Ash Division and Caustic Soda & CPP fall under Schedule – I and Toilet Soap division, Bromine Plant and Phosphoric Acid fall under Schedule – II and Centralized STP of Nirma Housing Colony.

• Preparation and submission of various reports like Monthly Patrak, Annual Environmental Statement (Form V), Hazardous waste return (Form IV) Monthly & Yearly, Online Manifest for the disposal of Hazardous wastes on the GPCB XGN

• Annual Return of disposal of Fly Ash and other reports as per the statutory requirements

Lead and manage environmental impact assessments, audits, and remediation programs to minimize the Environmental footprint of Nirma Group.

• Active team member for the EC CRZ clearance project for the proposed Expansion in Nirma Chemical Complex at Village - Kalatalav, Taluka & District - Bhavnagar, Gujarat.

• Coordinated the baseline monitoring studies for the preparation of EIA / EMP with NABET Approved Consultants

• Successfully conducted the public hearing of various projects like proposed Expansion, Captive Jetty, and Limestone mining for environmental clearance as per EIA notification 2006.

• Coordination with GPCB Appointed schedule – I & schedule – II Environmental auditors for vendor registrations, purchase orders, payments, sampling and observations during the visits, provide environmental records for the preparation of environmental audit reports and their queries and replies.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable practices into operational processes and drive continuous improvement in EHS performance.

• Conducting various environmental studies like Air emission management, Water management, Hazardous waste management, noise management, Soil Productivity etc. for the continual improvement of the environment.

• Takes plant rounds & reports the issues related to the environment to respective HODs of plants.

• Monitoring CAAQMS (Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring System) & OCEMS

(Online Continuous Emission Monitoring System) data and taking necessary follow-up from concerned departments when required.

Provide strategic guidance on EHS policies, procedures, and initiatives to support Nirma Limited's commitment to Environmental Sustainability.

• Provided strategic guidance on environmental policies, procedures, and initiatives in projects like integrated water management systems in terms of water consumption, by mixing the effluents of Soda ash, Phosphoric acid, and bromine plant into existing salt works to achieve Zero Liquid Discharge as well as the production of additional salt and gypsum.

• Domestic wastewater generated from the chemical complex has been treated in the existing ETP of the soap plant followed by gardening.

• Utilization of Wastewater of CPC blue dye industries containing Ammonium carbonate in soda ash plants for the makeup of ammonia.

• Looking after the Mangrove plantation program has been carried out in more than 153 ha. with the consultation with the Forest dept.

• Plantation activities of 183 acres in the peripheral and plant premises have been carried out in coordination with the horticulture dept.

• Rainwater harvesting management by making four nos. of rainwater harvesting ponds with a capacity of 22 LacM3 to collect the rainwater from the catchment area.

• 100 % utilization of fly ash generated in captive power plant

• Zero Waste disposal system to be implemented by captive utilization of Hazardous wastes generated in the premises

Monitor and report on key Environmental Performance indicators, identify trends and recommend corrective actions to mitigate environmental risks

• Full-fledged environment dept. and environment lab with sophisticated instruments has been established to assist by two environmental engineers, Sr. Chemist, Chemist, and ETP/STP operators.

• Conducts environmental monitoring and measurements as per environmental management plans like Ambient Air Quality, Stack Emission, Noise Level, Fugitive Emission, Ground Water Level, Pollution Control Device’s Performance Monitoring Drinking & Waste Water Quality Analysis, etc., and direct reports to the plant head.

• Three-stage environmental monitoring has been carried out by In-house, NABL-approved third party and by Environmental Auditors.

• Key parameters are monitors and immediate reports if any deviations are found beyond the GPCB norms.

Engage with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and community stakeholders to build strong relationships and ensure transparency in Environmental matters.

• Direct interaction and liaison with the RO – Gujarat Pollution Control Board meets regularly to build strong relationships and ensure transparency in environmental matters. Regular strong follow-ups are taken after GPCB visit till the inspection reports and results haven’t been frozen.

• Conducted various programs like 100 days plastic waste collection program, swatchhta pakhwada competition, etc.

• Also engage with various regulatory agencies like Forest, GMB, etc.

• Connected with nearby villages under community engagement program and various types of CSR activities have been carried out in which the areas are covered like Infrastructure, Health and Hygiene, Education, Sports, and recreation as per As per the CER office memorandum dated 01st May, 2018 of MoEF & CC.

• Launched and completely implemented multiple processes & procedures to improve the EHS compliance standards across the organization

• Organize and coordinate environmental awareness programs on various occasions like Environment Day, and National Safety Day among the students, staff, workmen, colony residents, nearby villages, etc.
