Randolph Street Gallery – an alternative nonprofit gallery. In the mid 1980’s I was asked to take a look at the books by a friend on the board and found a total financial disaster. The executive director had quit before she could be fired, eventually the doors were locked and the gallery shut down. I was asked to clean up the mess and took the position of president of the board. There was an old expired $25,000 bank line of credit which I was able to renew by getting personal guarantees from board members. I was able to hire a new executive director by setting up a salary escrow account to ensure he would get paid. Negotiations with IRS convinced them to refrain from going after $10,000 in back payroll taxes until grant money started to roll in. Then the executive director and I began writing grants. The gallery recovered and flourished for another ten years until the executive director left.

US Tax Court Represented a client before US Tax Court on two separate occasions. Unfortunately, in both cases we lost. Even more unfortunately, in both cases I was also the client.
