I have recently relocated to Lethbridge from the Yukon, and am seeking a full time position, and coming upon this job posting sparked my interest in working for your well known company Richardson International. To expand on the topics of responsibilities and qualifications towards the Material Handling position, my past employment has been mainly in the professional Mining Processing sector in which I have gained many skills that can be easily applied to the agricultural sector for a step in the door approach. To expand upon these subjects relating to the responsibilities regarding this current opportunity, I have attended daily tailgate and safety meetings, daily cross shift updates, and at all times understood and implemented all workplace health and safety requirements, even going beyond and applying them to my daily life. With good mechanical aptitude and an excellent record of safety habits. I have conducted pre-trip walk around safety inspections on machinery, daily field level hazard assessments of workplace areas and for tasks to be completed. Near miss documents were kept on person to record any discrepancies throughout the shift. I have always reported all incidents immediately to supervisors, big or small to ensure the safety of all, from overhead hazards, tripping hazards, including maintaining a tidy work area, and also equipment malfunctions. Many times over I have gone through and updated many training courses that would be complimentary such as, WHMIS and MSDS logs which applied to working with many dangerous chemicals and reagents along with the hazards that particular materials being stored, and the actions needed if exposure resulted. Fall arrest, confined space entry, skid steer operation, forklift operation, strict LOTO procedures, were implemented daily as well. To conclude my introduction, I have also have had years of experience operating various computer programs and a few automated systems, and am very adaptable in learning and integrating new systems to effectively work in a team oriented production facility.

Victoria Eagle Gold Mine, Yukon Territory

Labourer / Process Operator 1 / Process Operator 2

Many stages in this fairly strait forward circuited, Gold and Silver mine, which was a heap leach operation. Started in the position of labourer, mainly hand shovelling under and near conveyors in the crushing plant and throughout the mine site. This position came with many trouble shooting tasks to maintain production values. This entry level position was working in very dusty conditions, in all weather, where all PPE was worn including full face and half piece respirator masks. Duties included attending daily safety meetings, using fall arrest (harness, lanyard, shackles, anchor points) to complete tasks. Confined Space Entry / Watch Attendant (permits, air quality tests, fire watch, in screen decks, chutes, dust collectors, conveyors, crusher bowls or dump pockets). Also Heavy Lifting and Assisting others. LOTO procedures (tags, permits, lock boxes, key and lock, bump tests ; remote and local, as well as switching breakers). Exit and Entrance snow removal completed as needed. Promoted to Operator 1 and then Operator 2, gaining skid steer operations (pre-trips, snow removal, freshet mitigation). Tasks included shovelling off conveyors if overloaded (Ensuring LOTO), Mitigating Hazards with the use of caution tape, danger tape and barricading, full circuit visual inspections (insuring guards in place, pull cords, conveyor and chute inspections, utilizing task planning and prioritization, reporting all incidents to Supervisor, Mill writes and Electricians immediately), New Employee Training (implementing time management and all safety procedures). Then was Control Room Operator. Tasks included, running Primary Crusher (Gyratory) with use of Delta v, excel, daily log book and Teams Programs. Maintaining coarse ore pile levels, trouble shooting (for example over sized ore issues), and remote rock breaker operation. In this position I maintained high levels of radio contact with Supervisors, Mill writes, Electricians, and my fellow employees on the ground. Being in close proximity to Heavy equipment such as 180 ton haul trucks, graders, loaders, skid steers, excavators and fuel trucks was on a daily basis.

Couer Silvertip Mine Site BC/Yukon Border

Mill Operator level 3

Main position in the silver/lead/zinc ore processing plant was the Paste Back fill circuit. This involved many aspects to ensure quality of tailing and cement ratio mixing to insure safety and quality of the underground stopes being back filled. Run by HMI control room equipment and cameras to insure smooth operations and problem solving. Two other circuits that I was responsible for were, yet not limited to the mill as a whole, was Dewatering, which was the final stage of the solution of the particular moisture levels of the lead and zinc minerals before shipping. Other areas were to help problem solve in the bagging room and the Grinding circuits if any problems were to arise. Duties also included the training of new employees when the opportunity arose. These procedures involved high attention at all times to maintain the highest quality and standards to have smooth operations. Daily duties included keeping of records, log books and reports, along with constant equipment checks. Keeping safety in mind at all times, especially concerning PPE, conveyors and LOTO procedures. Very high physical lab labour involved, many flights of stairs, heavy lifting, shovelling, fixing pumps and lines, running multiple thickeners simultaneously, keeping safe entry ways, floors clear of tripping hazards, and the safety of others. Radio communication and contact with supervisors on surface and underground operations and water treatment throughout was a necessity. Much of the time working alone, yet at times a very team oriented work environment.

Schelite Flotation / Copper Flotation Operator

Gained much experience and training with the initial stages of the processing of Schelite and copper abstraction using unique and professional flotation processing techniques, not limited to thickeners, pumps and lines, flotation cells, various reagents and their scientific uses. Many of the preliminary circuits that which played a vital role in proper operation of this flotation circuit, included Crushing stages, grinding, proper reagent mixing, and the grade of ore coming into the mill, keeping constant checks on the operation of shaker table lines, beds and many other various aspects in order to maintain quality of operations. Other stations involved to insure quality, (for this was not an HMI controlled mill), was the quality of substrate in and through the roasting of the Schelite and copper final concentration, as well as the recovery percentage. This occupation kept me on a constant high level of continuous inspections to make the necessary changes to insure the targets were reached. Use of an XRF machine and sample taking were on an hourly basis to maintain target levels. During much of the duration of employment here, I was also a member of the On Site Safety Committee.

At this stage of employment here, I was introduced to the many stations involved and quickly came to operate the numerous machinery necessary. With the introduction to the Copper Flotation and abstraction circuit, insured me to quickly excel through the necessary techniques of abstracting the minerals from the ore. Once again, high physical labour in a high risk environment, which tested my strength, endurance, stamina and the ability to multitask. Experience in the positions, respectively, of Labourer, Blender, Primary Crusher (Jaw), Secondary Crusher (Tertiary), Reagents Mixing, Grinding (Ball and Rod) and Roaster circuits. Constantly maintained an environment of safety and tidiness. In this time period, gained more than 3,000 +/- hours of forklift operating experience, loading and unloading of semi trucks in all weather conditions. Was a member of the on site safety committee, operated various sizes of overhead cranes, confidence in confined space entry procedures, including testing of air quality, use of all safety PPE, including fall arrest harnesses, and all SOP's regarding safety at all times.

Then was moved up to operations, running first, the position of Blender, then Primary Crusher (jaw), which involved many conveyors and chutes, and electromagnets to remove steel, thirdly, the Secondary Crusher (tertiary), which also included many conveyors leading to the fine ore storage bins, and then running the Reagents mixing station. During this time frame, was introduced to the Roaster and Grinding circuits. In turn, excelled me into the knowledge of entire mill operation as a whole. Maintained a constant safe and tidy work environment free of hazards, insuring the use of all required PPE at all times. Gained 2,000 +/- hours of forklift experience.

Various types of paperwork was completed to insure the precision and accuracy of the processes to ensure non contamination of delicate samples. PPE worn at all times, including respirators and hearing protection, as well as operation of dust collectors.
