Norwalk Hospital Norwalk, CT

Norwalk Hospital is a 366-bed non-profit community hospital, part of Western Connecticut Health Network.

Interim Nurse Manager, Women’s Services – Reports to CNO

Responsible for Labor and Delivery, which includes 7 LDR's,1ORs and 1 PACU; 25 Postpartum beds, 4 of which are used for Antepartum, with approximately 65 FTEs and 100 deliveries per month.

Lakes Region General Hospital Laconia, NH

Lakes Region is a rural community facility with 195 beds. The Interim Director role was identified to provide stability and structure during a volatile time, after a significant reduction in workforce.

Interim Director, Family Birth Place – Reports to CNO (4 month contract)

o The Birth Center is inclusive of 8 LDRP with a 2-bed Triage.

o Developed and implemented an education plan to support competency and employee file updates.

o Maintained productivity above target.

o Revised and updated all unit specific policies.

o Identified regulatory gaps in current practice and supported development and implementation of policies and practices.

O’Conner Hospital San Jose, CA

O’Conner is part of a multi-facility region with 350 beds at the San Jose location. The Interim Director role supported transitional time between administrators during a facility buyout merger.

Interim Director, Perinatal Services – Reports to CNO (4 month contract, request to extend 2 months)

o The Birth Center is inclusive of LDRP beds, 10 NICU beds and perinatal testing.

o Interviewed and hired a PNS Nurse Manager.

o Additionally, covered NICU as Manager.

Palomar Health Escondido, CA

Palomar Health is a 714 bed, three hospital facility. The initial assignment was as Interim Nurse Manager of the Downtown Campus, which was identified to close after three months on the job. The role transitioned to Interim Director with additional responsibilities to manage the multi-disciplinary integration to add OB as a new service line to an existing facility, including OSHPD and CDHP regulatory updates, new policies and ancillary workflows.

Interim Director, Birth Center – Reports to CNO/COO (4 month contract, request to extend 2 months)

o The Birth Center is inclusive of 26 Labor/Delivery beds, 26 Post-Partum and Perinatal Services with approximately150 FTEs.

o Developed and implemented structured programs to support departmental opportunities related to quality and safety, including shift safety huddles, infection control initiative (education, direct observations and competencies) and clinical ladder expertise optimization teaching with audits.

o Decreased vacancy rate in leadership from 50% to 0% and night traveler usage by team by 85%

o Identified loss charges and established a committee to review current process and interventions to manage future revenue

o Managed nursing practice concerns with direct conversations and education with staff resources and MDs, streamlined processes with audits and establishing order sets for continuity

Nurse Manager/Director Permanent Positions

2011 to 2015 - Florida Hospital DeLand, FL

Florida Hospital DeLand is a 156-bed facility and a member of Adventist Health System, a faith based health care organization, with 45 hospital campuses and nearly 8,300 licensed beds in 10 states.

Director, Birth Care Center – Reports to CNO

o Was recruited as an interim director to utilize skills and expertise to stabilize the Birth Care unit and was offered a full-time position within a year.

o The Birth Care Center includes 6 LDRs and 12 Post-partum beds with 50 deliveries a month.

o Responsible for the management of 35 FTEs and 3 direct reports; 3 clinical leads and 1 educator.

o Actively involved in the development and deployment of system-wide quality initiatives, the formulation of comprehensive care plans for patients, and in the management of length of stay standards and processes for maternal/child care services.

o Guided the development and management of prenatal class curriculum, in collaboration with clinical educator

o Developed a business plan to justify the implementation of a comprehensive Lactation program and received administrative approval to launch, within the first year of employment

o Provided stability to a staff that was ‘broken’ /teambuilding by visibility and trust

2005 -2011 - Grove City Medical Center Grove City, PA

(2009-2011) Director, Women’s Health Services, Clinical Nurse Compass – Reports to CNO

Grove City Medical Center is a 90-bed facility located in a rural community of Pennsylvania. o Responsible for the management of mother and child health services/OB Department with 2 LDRs /Nursery/ Postpartum /Gynecology, with 55 FTEs as direct reports.

o Responsible for the development of a comprehensive Stereotactic Program.

o Created and launched Perinatal initiative by gaining physician consensus o All indicators at 100% and sustained

o Award given by Highmark for quality initiatives

o Initiation of community-wide initiatives, including March of Dimes program, shaken baby and breast cancer awareness in 2011
