CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

Generalist in a laboratory that is a HeartCARE and certified comprehensive designated stroke center performing a variety of laboratory procedures in hematology, coagulation studies, chemistry, urinalysis, and microbiology using Cerner computer system for ordering and resulting tests.

Hematology:

Performed complete blood and reticulocyte counts, using both manual and SYSMEX 2000 automated methods. Performed manual counts on various body fluids and prepared cytospins for manual differentials.

Coagulation Studies:

Reconstituted reagents for automated analysis of PTTs, PTs, D-Dimers and fibrinogens on the CS-2500 and back-up CA-600. Utilized latex coagulation kits and prepared dilutions for analysis of FDPs.

Chemistry:

Analysis of chemistry specimens using the Beckman Coulter AU-680 and Access-2. Preparing reagents and dilutions used for analysis. Performing osmolalities on serum and urine specimens.

Microbiology:

Plated, gram-stained and read slides from a variety of sources, as well as fecal leukocytes. Performed COVID-19 PCRs and NAAs, Flu A and B and RSVs on a Sofia instrument. Performed kit tests for diagnosis of C-Diff, strep, occult blood, and latex testing for CSF bacterium.

Urinalysis/ Serology:

Performed routine analysis on the Iris and manual microscopic analysis when needed. Reporting crystals in synovial fluid using polarized light microscopy.
