Major Duties: Performs a wide variety of technical tasks relating to property disposal system through reutilization, transfer, donation (R/T/D), and sales of excess DoD property involving a large variety of specialized items and complex equipment. Incumbent performs tasks related to all technical aspects of the environmental disposal program in a DLA Disposition Services, which includes: (50%) Pre-receipt inspections of hazardous material and waste generations to ascertain the type and nature of the property, and determine the appropriate of receipt. The inspection covers not only the material but its turn-in documentation, containerization and labeling requirements. Providing technical support to the generating activities to ensure proper identification, handling, packaging, labeling, is provided for materials turned in to the DLA Disposition Services. Giving technical guidance to DLA Disposition Services materials handling personnel while performing actual receiving/warehousing functions to ensure proper handling and storage procedures within the facility. Furnishes guidance to sales and reutilization personnel pertaining to the RTD/Sales of hazardous material and waste, to ensure that proper clauses and conditions of sales, transportation and receipt are included in catalogs, and are complied with by the customer. Performs inspections of the hazardous facilities, both on and off site to ensure proper receiving, storage marking and labeling, documentation, record keeping practices are maintained. Researches problems and develops corrective actions, when required, to ensure the facility remains or comes into regulatory compliance. Preformed necessary follow up actions to ensure that the necessary steps have been taken and procedures are followed to prevent recurrences.
