Visual Arts and Literacy Educator at Academy of Math and Science Charter School, Flower Campus July 2017 – Present
Visual Art and Visual Literacy educator engaging in developing a new approach for charter school in Maryville area in Phoenix, integrating art education into STEM curriculum. Establishing networks with community members and Museums to enhance learning through the fine arts. Initiated partnership with the IFC to promote fiber arts with student artwork exhibitions on national tours. Donors choose recipient for several support grants for the art classroom. Hired in 2017 to fill new kindergarten position for expanding program for 1 year before creating new art approach. Specializing in EL Language classroom for Title I charter school with certification of 45 hours. NES highly qualified in Reading/Language. Utilizing the visual arts to support STEM and common core in the self-contained kindergarten classroom. Creating community outreach for developing science and social studies curriculum for kindergarten. Expanding math and common core visuals for playground design utilizing painted blacktop play areas.
ICAN Afterschool Program 7/2016 – 6/2017
ICAN positive program for at risk youth. Program specialist developing community outreach and curriculum for evidenced based programming, the arts, and nonprofit collaboration. Developed afterschool programing partnership with MIM to encourage music education for members. Community outreach for nonprofit collaboration with Phoenix Youth Circus, Harmony Project of Phoenix and other community organizations in the arts. Enhanced student experiences in integrated learning, project-based explorations in STEAM and specialization in SEL. Focus priority of developing visual acuity, small/gross motor skills and communications skills of at-risk youth. Visual Art Education Torah Day School 8/2015-6/2016
Visual Art/Literacy teacher for private, Independent School in North Phoenix. Developed programing for Early Childhood and specialized in Theology/Art for students attending a traditional school. Enhanced curriculum with integrated lessons with STEM. Created opportunities for students to explore the visual arts through creating murals for the school.
Tesseract School, Paradise Valley Arizona EC, K-12 8/2005-7/2015 EC, k-12 School closed US and consolidated MS to LS position, closed all June 2015. Utilizing prior experience and skills as listed to be recognized as a three-time Nominee for Art Education Individual: Governor's Art Awards 2010 and 2012, 2013. Restructured programs from art enrichment to nationally recognized art education program. Changed grade grouped elective classes to be required classes for K-8 meeting biweekly. Included small motor skills and thematic units in EC. Founding teacher for 4-year sequential program for the Upper School. Selected/hired Educator for k-4 when program growth required a second instructor. Developed state recognized Visual Arts Program for grades 5-12.
