Duties: Inspect, maintain, and repair a variety of small engine equipment (I.e. lawn mowers, snow blowers, chain saws, and weed eaters). Troubleshoot to determine what caused the failure. Make repairs to all components (I.e. mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components.) including complete rebuild, rings, valves, pistons, rods, carburetor, starter, transmissions. Inspect, test, and diagnose trouble in diesel/gas powered emergency generator sets. Perform maintenance on heavy mobile equipment and vehicles ( I.e. street snow removal vehicles, 20 ton snow blowers, etc.) Adjust, remove and replace components, ( I.e. transmissions, clutches, brake assemblies etc.) Make adjustments and alignments, ( I.e. ignition timing, front end alignment, etc.) Make functional tests to locate malfunction. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment. Operate motor vehicle up to 5 ton load capacity.

Duties: General Automotive Mechanic: troubleshoots and repairs automotive engines, components and major assemblies of one or more types of vehicles used for industrial, commercial, or tactical government purposes, to include but not limited to M1113, M1114, M997, M984, M113, M1 tank, M60 tank, warehouse tractors, forklifts, and multi-wheel drive tactical equipment. Insures the quality assurance of all items worked on by employing such technical instruments as compression gauges, STE-ICE, Pro-link, SPORTS, electrical testers, test stands, special feeler dials, and exhaust analyzers. Inspects defects, diagnoses malfunctions and determines the type and extent of repairs needed. Additional duties include the tear down or replacement of all complex components, such as transmissions, engines, differentials, power steering systems, axel assemblies, braking mechanisms, cooling system, hydraulic system, electrical systems, and wheel bearings. Reconnects and adjust repaired items according to governments standards and specifications, hooks up oil hydraulic, fuel and electrical systems to repaired units and makes appropriate adjustments to insure the proper operation of equipment. Conducts a final quality assurance review of all work to ensure safety, serviceability, and satisfactory operation of units. Utilizing the full knowledge of the operation, makeup and installation of components, vehicle systems and assemblies such as gas/diesel engines, transmission, ( standard/automatic). Extensive background in the automotive field helps in the analysis of how far major components should be torn down, what mechanisms and part can be reworked, repaired, refitted, or replaced with new parts, and the extent to which adjustments and alignments are required. Quality work and compliance with government and manufacturers specifications is essential for the completion and accuracy of any work.

Duties: Troubleshoots, rebuilds, and repairs fifteen different types of automotive hydraulic cylinders. Ranging from the complex double action cylinders used on the M977 series tactical vehicles to the single action cylinders used on the hyster forklift. Extensive training and hands on experience on the use of specialized measuring instruments such as micrometers, venire calipers, dial indicators, pressure test stand with numerous gauges to monitor hydraulic pressure for final testing of each cylinder to see if each cylinder meets the standards outline in the TM manuals for the proper cylinder. Also have training in troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding the 100amp, and 200amp alternators, and the clutch fan impeller used in the M1113, M1114, M997, M1121, and the M1125 Series vehicles. Inspects components serviceability by use of multimeters to check for proper continuity of the front cover and stators. Have specialized training for the operation of the 500amp test stand. To conducted final tests for the individual items that have been rebuilt in ensuring to meet the Army standards and the standards outlined in the TM manuals.
