EXPERIENCE
DriverAI LLC, Peoria, AZ Jan 2025 – Present
Data Science Intern (Remote)
● Develop features for shopping app that allows for precise in-store navigation, using real-time location data and store layouts to improve user experience and ease of finding products in retail spaces.
● Design and train neural networks using Python and the TensorFlow library for precise location prediction. Steward Observatory, Tucson, AZ
Research Assistant Data Specialist Oct 2022 – May 2023, Dec 2023 – May 2024
● Performed exploratory data analysis on more than 600 GB of special-temporal data to analyze time variability of a complex physical system and the dominant factors causing it on UA High-Performance Computing system.
● Visualized analysis results with Matplotlib and pyharm to show patterns and identify key influencing factors
(pressure and density).
● Constructed a model with descriptive statistics (average, variance) to describe the factors’ influences numerically and detect outliers in any given time period.
ThirdEye Gen Inc., Princeton, NJ
Software Engineer Intern (Remote) Jul 2023 – Oct 2023
● Explored and tested 12 open-source text-to-speech (TTS) and voice conversion packages (tortoise, RVC, etc.) from GitHub to integrate TTS functionality into the company’s smart glass software.
● Conducted in-depth performance evaluations of 7 packages on their GPU usage, training time, output quality, etc. to select package(s) for integration on different operating systems (Linux, Windows).
● Created tutorials and wrote reports about selected packages, presented them to stakeholders, and accelerated the software development time.
ACADEMIC PROJECTS
University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ
Quasar Classification and Criteria Improvement with Machine Learning Aug 2020 – Sep 2023
● Built and optimized classification models (Random Forest, k-NN, SVM) to distinguish rare astronomical objects
(high-redshift quasars) from brown dwarfs in an extremely imbalanced dataset.
● Achieved high accuracy with the Random Forest model (training accuracy of 0.95, test precision and recall ~0.9), and kept k-NN as a supplementary model with precision and recall around 0.85-0.9.
● Trained a k-NN model on a dataset of 100k+ simulated objects to enhance classification criteria, discovered a new feature to exclude contaminants and improved the model’s precision score (0.533) significantly over existing results
(0.136).
