Design & development of wiring harnesses from start to finish, including the selection of components for cables.
Responsible for providing mechanical design such as sheet metal, detail drawings including assembly and top assembly to support TESTBED, OSAM-1. All designs met NASA, Military and GD&T standards.
Duties included meetings with the Mechanical, Electrical and Structure departments to help develop more efficient systems which included supporting the engineering and design drafting department. Assisted in creating charts to manage progress and submit to management for scheduling. Responsible for reviewing drawings to meet NASA, Military and GD&T standards.
Checking of mechanical drawings such as assembly, sub-assembly, detail and shop drawing to meet NASA and Mil-standards applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), DOD-100, and DOD-1000. Also responsible for checking electrical designs such as packing designs and laying out schematic diagrams, interconnection diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable layout, cable connectors, cable brackets, switches, plugs, circular connectors and panels.
NASA, Kennedy Space Center: Jacobs June 2018 - July 2019
Associate Engineer III
Responsible for supporting the Rocket R&D department with mechanical and electrical design for rocket development and manufacturing. Proficient in creating detailed drawings for piece parts and assemblies from 3D CAD files. Maximize form fit and function through design model’s elevation. Responsible for managing all documentation from concept to release from CRs to production using KDDMS system and NASA standards.
CAD/Software used: Creo 3D parametric, AutoCAD, KDDMS (NASA software tool)
Generated new designs of E/M packaging, laying out schematics, interconnection, and wiring diagrams, cable layout, cable connectors, cable brackets, switches, plugs, circular connectors and panels. Also created electrical assembly, sub-assembly and detailed drawings. Responsible for routing cables, tubing and hoses, per NASA standards.
Involved in harness design: responsible for generating complete 3D electrical wiring harness designs, associated with 2D drawings. Develop BOM and process sheet flow diagrams; assist in developing test evaluation & validation of electrical systems & related parts; analysis of product complaints and counter measures for vendor quality problems; design & development of wiring harness includes selection of components, arranging the quotes of imported material and parts. Layout design and development of components and subsystems. Coordination and follow up with vendor, related agencies for design development activities. Part of the team is involved in developing customer-oriented products with high quality and efficiency. Responsible for calculating wire bundles, size and weight. Experience with DOD-100, and 1000, ASME Y14.5 and experience with NASA standards (ITAR) and (EAR).
Mechanical designs of machined and injection molding parts such as packaging, rack and panels, housing, piping diagrams, modules, sheet metal, support brackets, rings, casting, machine shop drawings, enclosures, collars, hub roller bearings, and welding.
Reviewed electro-mechanical designs, harness design drawings including assembly, sub-assembly, diagrams, schematic diagrams, interconnection diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable layout, cable connectors, cable brackets, switches, plugs and panels. Utilized the Bills of Materials (BOM) vendor drawings and product specifications as reference and applied GD&T to mechanical drawing.
JT3 Edwards AFB July 2016 - Oct 2017
Instrumentation / Architect / Piping Designer
Used Catia, Solidworks and AutoCAD
Responsible for supporting the instrumentation department, packaging design and developing mechanical and electrical drawings for assemblies, subassemblies, mechanical, schematics, cable and harness per Mil-standards
Mechanical design of aerospace parts for all aspects of aircraft systems and structural drawings.
Duties include supporting engineering in laying out piping design for fuel system parts including flanges reducer pressure release valve and isometric drawings.
Involved in architectural and piping design
BAE Systems Sep 2012 – June 2016
Design Specialist
Using Solidworks, Inventor, Catia, and AutoCAD
Worked closely with the engineers to develop aircraft structural designs including the landing gear for a converted 747 which required a complicated hydraulic system. This system requires the conversion of all 3D modeling into AutoCAD. My role also included the following responsibilities: Laying out of packing design and schematic diagrams and interconnection diagrams for hydraulic systems. 3D wiring harness designs associated with 2D drawings. Inserting all major components into the landing gear mockup. Creating structural drawings by routing all tubing and cables. Creating various relay boxes. Creating architectural drawings for a landing gear mockup. ASME Y14.5 and DOD-100, DOD-1000, and MIL-STD-100 standards. Skills also include working on Microsoft Office.
