Transition to Teaching Certificate, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. Completed graduate work for an Indiana teaching license in 2014. Named to Sigma Tau Delta national English honorary. Graduate work, University of Memphis, Memphis, Tennessee. Accrued more than 30 hours toward a master’s degree in journalism from 2009-2013.

Graduate work, University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri. Completed three years in a master’s degree program in news-editorial journalism before entering the workforce.

Bachelor’s degree, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. Received a B.A. in communications from Purdue in May, 1980. Graduated as first chair clarinetist of the Purdue Symphonic Band; played with the band for four years and with the Purdue Wind Ensemble for two years.

Worked for Purdue News Service as a liaison to Indianapolis television stations and all major national broadcast outlets. 2008-2009 – Contract faculty member, Ball State University Department of Journalism. Currently a part-time announcer for WVPE NPR affiliate in Elkhart, Indiana. Long-time contributing columnist to the former Howey Political Report, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Received more than 60 journalism awards from the Indy Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, the Hoosier State Press Association, Indiana Associated Press Managing Editors, the Indiana affiliate of the American Heart Association and the Inland Daily Press Association. Named columnist of the year by CNHI newspapers in 2007.
