As a Mechanical Engineer Post Graduate Trainee at ZIMBABWE POWER COMPANY
(ZPC), I was part of a team that contributed to the design, operation, and maintenance of power generation plants and systems. I worked at ZPC for over two years, applying my mechanical engineering skills and knowledge to optimize the performance and reliability of power supply in Zimbabwe. I was also heavily involved the construction, installation and commissioning of Hwange Thermal Power Plant Unit 7 and 8. Hwange Expansion Project
• EPC Project Site Monitoring, Quality Control and risk management through on- site engineering and technical services during installation and commissioning activities, collectively achieving an over 80% defect-free rate during installation and commissioning in the department.
• Facilitating and carrying out hazard identification and risk assessments to identify the risk characteristics, conditions of risk, risk and performance indexing and devising controls and safety measures in the project.
• Investigate accidents and injuries to determine their cause and recommend preventive measures, and collectively reduced the number of repeated accidents in the department by 40% year-over-year
• Collaborated with various stakeholders, including team leaders and contractors. Participated in project meetings, provided technical input, and communicated progress, challenges, and solutions effectively.
