WORK EXPERIENCE
Alaka’i Technologies Stow, MA
Project Engineer 05/2022 – 08/2024
• Contributed to the collaborative design and build effort on the propulsion, power generation, and electrical systems of two pro- totype hydrogen fuel cell powered hexacopters.
• Provide support to troubleshoot, scope, and address design and operations issues on all Alakai vehicles and test benches.
• Write test procedures and operate fuel cell and hydrogen delivery test benches with resultant analysis driving improvement of the design and operation of vehicle systems.
• Oversee scheduling, tracking, and execution of process, mechanical, and electrical upgrades across all 7 vehicle systems during weight loss effort on second vehicle prototype.
• Managed a project to develop and construct new more efficient Device Control Boards for vehicle electrical system. Hydrogen Systems Engineer
• Designed and executed installation of gaseous hydrogen storage and delivery system on prototype vehicle, support and scope improvements to the system, providing stable flow delivery and minimal pressure drop to fuel cells.
• Involved in design, development, and testing of vehicle liquid hydrogen storage, conditioning, and delivery system.
• Executed detailed inspection and creation of P&IDs, SWDs, and BOMs for fuel cell test bench, as well as vehicle propulsion, power generation, and cooling systems.
• Collaborated with team to develop system descriptions, FMEAs, Fault Trees, and additional analyses to help generate system- specific requirements related to the FAA certification basis for future vehicle iterations.
• Detailed analysis and breakdown of FAA/NASA/ANSI/ISO requirements and compliance strategy planning for hydrogen fuel cell systems on certification vehicle.
Linde PLC East Chicago & Burns Harbor, IN
Plant Engineer 07/2019 – 05/2022
• Provided technical and troubleshooting support to day-to-day plant operations for a hydrogen liquefier and three air separation units capable of supplying 6,500 tons of product per hour, in addition to supporting and traveling to a satellite plant in Columbia City, IN.
• Executed a $150,000 capital project to recover approximately 4,500 scfh of spent hydrogen from a neon refinery process to the suction of the argon refinery to be used in the deoxygenation process and conserve site hydrogen usage.
• Planned and oversaw preventative maintenance projects including writing lockout-tagout procedures and hazardous work per- mits for both routine work and major plant outages.
• Designed spreadsheets and tracking system for managing and testing over 800 pressure relief devices throughout the facility.
• Designed schematic wiring diagram using AutoCAD for a new atmospheric monitoring system for facility nitrogen compressors as well as redline P&IDs and correct existing drawings of the argon refinery and oxygen storage tanks. Leadership and Technical Orientation Program Engineer
• Helped facilitate day-to-day plant operations on a 95-acre site containing eight product separation and refinement processes, including four 1,200 ton per day air separation units.
• Constructed heat and mass balance for the cooling water system on site and created a system to track compressor intercooler health, identifying those that needed cooler cleaning and saving the facility approximately $30,000 in power cost per machine.
• Designed a new detailed process block flow diagram using AutoCAD for the site hydrogen liquefier to be used in training exercises.
