Universal Press successfully merged with Tursso Companies July 2000 and owner retired July 2001. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: strategic planning and goals development; research and implementation of new technologies and processes; all day-to-day management, administration, and operational duties of upper level management position for approximately 135 employees at two locations (St.Paul, Minnesota and Fort Dodge, Iowa); varied fiscal responsibilities including budget development and projection; continuing progress and improvement under ISO guidelines and directives, including Pharmaceutical level printing and the quality standards and guidelines as prescribed by ISO.
Graphics Unlimited, Inc., Minneapolis, Minnesota (September 1996 - August 1998)
Director of Operations: Promoted to this position November of 1997. Objective was to rebuild and rejuvenate the printing manufacturing, or “operations”, side of the company. Responsible for approximately seventy management and production employees representing two shifts. Worked directly with the CEO in strategic marketing and business planning to refocus the direction of the company and insure continued profitability and stability.
Sales Management: Sales Department Manager for fifteen sales representatives, all customer service representatives, and estimators. Hired to overhaul dysfunctional sales department and effect increased sales revenues, higher quality customer service, and more consistent and accurate estimating. Specified objectives were reached by November of 1997.
Northwest Airlines, St. Paul, Minnesota (July 1991 - August 1996)
Departmental Manager: Hired to overhaul the dysfunctional Printing Services Department. Responsibilities included directing and overseeing all operations, employees and fiscal responsibilities for captive offset Printing Services Department. Subsequently also replaced Copy Service Centers Department Manager and Manuals and Regulations Department Manager, assuming all duties. Fiscal responsibilities included the development and monitoring of a combined annual budget in excess of $3 million, full purchasing authority and responsibility for all services, materials and equipment related to departmental and corporate needs. Built shop from a one color captive facility to a six color captive facility plus outside profit center within two years of date of hire. Management of off-site and out-of-state satellite locations.
