In a classroom setting, I took an active role of supporting the students by helping them with their basic daily work as directed by the classroom teacher and team, then implemented the use of tangibles (as needed) in order to help them understand the task(s) at hand. This can benefit them in the most productive way for learning without getting frustrated or going into shutdown mode.
At times, I would pull them from the classroom, to go where it is quieter and a smaller setting..less stimuli helps
