1) Project Title : Enterprise Data Access Services (EDAS)

EDAS represents a data and service ecosystem that is primarily focused on the client’s data within the organization. The EDAS organization manages over 130 systems of record services that provides operations across 20 different data stores while processing over 8 million messages and transactions per day. These services are leveraged by most of our top tier business applications. At a high level, these services can be broken down into 4 key areas:

This mainly involves production support, enhancements and maintenance of applications which manage information on checks, policies, insurer and other monetary details which come from various systems including annuities, insurance endowments, mortgage loan payments, oil & gas, loan and surrender as well as online transactions performed by business users. The three main modules this project comprises are Payments and Disbursements, Accounting Operations and Corporate Tax Planning, where appropriate enhancements and developments are performed as per business requirements.

Project Name: Margins and Electronic Blue Sheet Submissions (EBS)

Client : Morgan Stanley (Investment Bank) in USA

Morgan Stanley Smith Barney is a global financial firm that, through its subsidiaries and affiliates, provides its products and services to a large and diversified group of clients and customers, including corporations, governments, financial institutions and individuals.

TCS is Morgan Stanley’s preferred vendor in its Global Wealth Management IT portfolio and the “offshore” consulting services space. TCS consultants engage in projects with various Morgan Stanley divisions in New York USA and Chennai / Pune / Bangalore, India. These project engagements require TCS to provide consulting, planning, designing, developing, implementation and Program Management services to Morgan Stanley Departments.

The project which I worked on deals with financial bookkeeping - Morgan Stanley (MS) facilitates stock investors for creating Margin accounts to invest in share market. If they fail to repay the fund back to MS within stipulated deadline, exception calls are created, for Financial Advisors, to keep a track of the Account Holders who have not repaid the funds. Worked under various modules and there are three separate modules where I was the subject matter expert in terms of requirement gathering from the Business Operations directly as well as coding:

a.Handling modules for a special type of Account where loans are extended by the firm to the customers with collateral in the form of securities and cash. This same application handles intraday trade activities of accounts and performs appropriate balance tracking to determine if account has generated exception calls with necessary reports.

b.Restriction System Engine – This system handles accounts such that if a person purchases and sells a security prior to making a full payment, breaching the regulatory requirements, a freeze is put for a certain amount of time on that account blocking the account holder from performing a trade until a sufficient amount is bought in to cover the trades.

c.Automated Loan Review System – Automated the back-end process of handling loan amounts assigned to the Customers based on the credit value of the securities he/she is holding.

The main job responsibility includes gathering of new requirements from Business Operations directly through various calls Daily. Once the requirements are gathered, the Development work will start which consist of coding new modules (programs/jobs/procs, CICS related modules) and working directly with clients to meet their expectations within the given SLA.
