As a dedicated freelancer, I have had a number of clients where I’ve managed social media feeds, creating and posting content. I have also written numerous biographies of executive search candidates after observing online interviews.

Another activity has been cold calling for a legal client to grow awareness of her business within her geographical area.

Using my strong attention to detail skills, I also offer virtual assistant services to clients.

Head of Public Relations, Riversands I-Hub

As the first team member to be head hunted for the non-profit project to help small businesses grow, I began the process for Riversands I-Hub (https://www.riversandsihub.co.za/) to become known in the corporate South African marketplace.

As the team grew, my focus was to produce regular stakeholder reports and proofread each document sent out to more than 160 business owners on the campus. I also sent out a weekly newsletter with stories collected from the campus where I interviewed entrepreneurs and wrote up the stories of their entrepreneurial endeavours.

I also wrote longer stories for the monthly partner newsletter which was sent to stakeholders after spending more time with the business owners.

I acted as a mentor to many of the entrepreneurs, guiding them to grow their businesses during our interactions and forming relationships with them.

My training as a high school English teacher has stood me in good stead in my career and I’m an accomplished writer and editor. I’m obsessed with creating copy that flows well and I’m able to adapt my writing style to blogs, newsletters, reports, press releases and emails.

Working in a non-profit company fulfilled my desire help build a better South Africa by educating entrepreneurs and working with them to become successful and profitable.

During the 12 years with leading public relations agency, I liaised with clients, took briefs, wrote press releases and checked colleagues’ copy. Corporate Communications Consultants had clients such as Deloitte, Aon Consulting, Discovery Vitality and Century Property Developments which I numbered in my portfolio.

In the case of Century Property Developments, the publicity campaign which I managed was so successful that I was head hunted for the company’s corporate social responsibility project, Riversands I-Hub.
