Duties, Accomplishments, and Related Skills: Supervised the Outpatient Records (OPR) and Release of Information (ROI) offices, to include the hiring and training of new employees. Supervised 6 medical records technicians (GS-5), in addition to 2 correspondence clerks in ROI (GS-5) and one medical records courier (GS-2). Reviewed and responded to written, telephone, or personal requests for medical information on present or former RWBAHC (facility) patients. Received requests from military treatment facilities (MTFs), civilian hospitals and physicians as well as individuals. Selected and compiled requested information from medical records, ensuring no important data is omitted. Reproduced the recorded data as requested. Prepared appropriate documents as needed to forward medical records and transmitted complete packages to appropriate personnel authorized to release patient medical information.

Submitted work tickets for errors in the electronic health record (EHR registrations and submitted erroneously scanned data to the HIPAA privacy officer for its removal from the record. Trained employees in processes and procedures.

Medical Records Technician- Raymond W. Bliss Army Health Center

Duties, Accomplishments, and Related Skills: Worked at the front desk on rotating shifts, answered the phone and helped anyone who needed assistance. Filled out DD 2870 forms correctly for those requesting records and processed them, released encounters, results, or immunization records as requested. Processed Behavioral Health requests as well as complete medical records requests and determined if they have a hard copy record. If a hard copy record was present, I would scan it and take the request to ROI (correspondence office) for it to be processed. Scanned and uploaded outside records once they were signed by providers. Determined where faxes should be routed, and separated them accordingly, and placed them in appropriate designated boxes where they needed to be routed by our courier. Processed DD 877 forms, prepared and shipped out records to other military treatment facilites, and prepared and shipped out records for retirement and performed HIPAA checks on all records. Entered every signed request into a tracking system and updated it every time that request was touched. Faxed out lab results to ordering providers for patients who received lab services at the facility. Located records from other MFTs for retirement and obtained dental records from the dental office on Ft. Huachuca. Performed HIPAA checks on charts prior to mailing out and then mailed them out to the Army Records Processing Center (ARPC). Processed STAT requests and faxed out the records requested accordingly.
