Graduate of the University of Arizona with dual Bachelors degrees in Spanish and Political Science (1990). Teacher certification through Arizona State University, West Campus (1993). Experience
Instructional Professional, Spanish, Herberger Young Scholars Academy, Arizona State University. Taught all levels of Spanish, created a sixth-year literature course, implemented for the first time Cambridge testing for our fourth, fifth and sixth year students. (November 2021 – Present)
Coordinator: Saturday Academy, Sunrise Mountain High School, Peoria Unified School District. Along with a few other staff members, we provided extra academic opportunities to receive tutoring and make-up missing work. This Academy works in conjunction with the SMHS Mustang Hour to assist all students in successfully completing their coursework. (Fall 2015 to Spring 2019)
Curriculum Facilitator, World Languages, Peoria Unified School District. As facilitator, I was responsible for conducting our district’s first district-wide Language Fair. I also developed and implemented two district level in-services as well as leading a team of teachers in the development of Level IV curriculum and assessments. (Fall 2010 to Spring 2015)
Instructor and Class Author, eCampus, Peoria Unified School District. As a member of the eCampus faculty I instruct both first and second year Spanish courses. In addition, I designed and wrote the second year eCampus Spanish course in the summer of 2009. (Fall 2008 to Spring 2019)
Curriculum Lead: Sunrise Mountain High School, Peoria Unified School District. In this capacity I oversaw the daily workings of the World Languages department. Developing curricula, ordering supplies, developing instructional activities were also key components of this position. (Fall 2007 to Spring 2015)
Board Member: Arrowhead Little League. I served as the umpire coordinator for our league where my duties included conducting clinics for our coaches, serving as a liaison between coaches/parents and the umpiring crew, upholding league policies while serving as the final judge on the rules of baseball. (Summer 2004 to Summer 2007)
Foreign Language Department Chair: Sunrise Mountain High School, Peoria Unified School District. In this capacity I assisted in the development of the district’s foreign language curriculum as well as aiding in the creation of two new advanced courses to be offered by the Peoria schools. (Fall 1996 to Spring 2003)
Southern Region Coordinator: Project PRIME, Arizona State University. Responsibilities included representing PRIME in the southern half of Arizona and to develop relations between the University of Arizona and Pima Community College. Other duties being to maintain and develop all PRIME components (i.e. TestSkills and Advanced Placement), to conduct SAT preparation workshops and to coordinate college presentations at our targeted local and rural jr. high and high schools. (November 1990 to June 1992)
