Resume the B-Side
Career, life-changing experiences
Illustrator, Photographer, Editor, Canistota High School Newspaper and Annual As an in coming freshman in high school, I was asked to illustrate for the school annual. Soon after, I became a photographer shooting sports, lifestyle and community events. That introduction to journalism led to news and editorial writing; an early start to my career. Founder, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Canistota High School I loved the idea of starting an FBLA chapter at my school and convinced the superintendent to support it. We financed the group with concession stand sales at school events — the experience was a great lesson in the value of initiative and networking. Boys State Delegate, Canistota, South Dakota
Boys State is a week-long American Legion program for high school juniors designed to educate potential leaders about government and civic responsibility. Delegates are chosen by leaders in their community and it was an honor to be selected. It was an incredible learning experience.
Resident Assistant, South Dakota State University
A challenging job as a role model and mentor, needing wisely managing time and working with a wide variety of personalities and relationships. Sales Trainer/Service Manager, Best Buy
Working at Best Buy was a natural fit for me. At the suggestion of my manager, I applied for a sales training position and attended “Sales Presentation Training” school; a seminar that teaches comprehensive sales techniques. Experience in retail sales has been a great addition to my career. Association Board President, Old Town In Town Cooperative Being elected as an association board member was a challenge drawing on many past experiences and a large commitment of time and dedication. It is incredibly rewarding to see efforts improve your community.
