To whom is reading this now I have 6 years working in the CNA field. Along these 6 years I have learned so many new things both physically and mentally . For example I am perfectly capable of putting a condom cath on, as well as a pure wic, i am able to empty catheters, as well as transfer patients, change briefs, ADLs,,Range of Motions, baths as well both sponge and regular, Im able to take blood pressures as well as being able to feed patients when needed, dressing them, & even communicating to them. In my 6 years of working as a CNA I've learned So much about people how to deal with emotions, both of the patient and your own . I feel as though this might not be a skill but it can definitely be turned into one that's why I put “communicating ” .The more comfortable the patient is with you the better experience they have not just with the staff but as a wholesome experience & if you can make the family comfortable even better . I’ve had times when nurses have asked me to talk to a patient so they could take their medicine. Which brings me to my other skill, I am a fluent Spanish speaker. I can read,write, and speak it very fluently .I’ve also been exposed to working in the COVID unit, I know its not a skill but I feel it be nice to know I’m not scared to work the COVID section if ever needed too.
