One of the highlights of my career was when I was tasked by The Warden of the Institution to be the OIC - Officer In Charge of the Mental Health Unit supervising 26 Sergeants and Officers while overseeing CSU, TCU,SHOS and CM Inmates. From 06 2019 through 01 2020, I was Acting Lieutenant. I was asked to remain as Lieutenant as I did an outstanding job during my tenure as OIC. I decided to go back to my Sergeants role however as I was working three different shifts during the same week and home life was suffering. I proved to them and myself though that I could handle the role and do it well. I knew I could, as I had been assisting my various Captain’s for some time and learned a lot from then.
Another major accomplishment of mine was being the B shift DART Team Command Team Leader. Proficient in Roster Management Services (RMS) scheduling of Officers assignments. Scheduling leave/ vacation and sick. Keeping track of absences and overtime worked. Utilized Microsoft Word Programs, Excel, and Adobe, programs in completing various Supervisory reports.
Supervised 26 employees in their job performance and managed 640 offenders. Booked new inmates into facility and processed inmates for release. Monitored alarm systems and CCTV to detect any unauthorized entries into protected areas. Delivered accurate verbal and written reports to the OIC and Chief of Security. During my tenure at ZCI, I have been fifteen different Captain's right-hand man: if there was a problem, it was resolved. As the Captain's senior lead sergeant, I insured that whatever task my OIC assigned to me was completed in a timely manner. A major accomplishment of mine was personalized training I provided to qualified officers. Provided personalized training and instruction from me on being a sergeant. Due to my mentoring and teaching, twenty-one of my proteges promoted to sergeant and five went on to become Lieutenants and one a Captain.
