Employment History:

Guardian ad Litem – State of Florida: Volunteer Supervisor – 2006- January 2015

I worked with the volunteers in this program, that promotes advocacy for neglected and abused children. The program is appointed by court order, for the hundreds of cases that come into the system each month. I received new cases, worked with the case managers at DCF, assigned the cases to my volunteers, kept track of all hearings and on-going circumstances for each case. I spent a great deal of each day working with individual volunteers (who receive 30 hours of training) in how to handle the logistics of their cases.

The main thrust of the program is to advocate for as many children as possible, in court. This involves recruitment, as well as keeping the volunteers interested and involved in the court system. My job was multi-faceted and involved a great deal of mentoring, with a diverse volunteer population.

Kimball Hill Homes – 2004-2005 –Customer Care Manager

I worked in a public relations capacity, meeting with each new resident in this new 300 unit development. I was responsible for understanding and explaining the warranty issues so I could work with each new resident, as complaints were registered. I established relationships with vendors, and worked with them on scheduling repair appointments for the new residents.

University of Florida, Lee County Extension – Welfare-to-Work Coordinator – 2000-2003

This was a grant-funded position that involved intense outreach work, connecting with employers in the community who might be interested in employing and training the people who qualified for the program. This program was intended to work with and teach select participants to find career paths, through skills training in such areas as horticulture, culinary arts and business development.

Cypress Cove at Health Park – Move-In Coordinator – 1998-2000

This was a two year position, involving complex problem solving, as the Coordinator for over 200 move-ins, in this new life care community. It required on-going interaction with each future resident, to plan each component of their move. I worked with the residents, the marketing staff, the engineering team, the movers and the decorators to achieve a successful move for each new resident.

Lee County Schools: Follow Along Specialist/Teacher for Welfare to Work -1995-1998

As the Follow Along Specialist, I worked with disabled students, who were in the workplace, part-time. If they were employed, it was my job to work with their employer to keep them employed. If they were not working, I worked with various employers to find positions for them. This involved job coaching, advocacy and counseling. As the teacher for people coming off of welfare, I worked in the skills lab, preparing the students for the GED.
