The 8,000 acres was purchased from the Mexican Government/FONATUR. The project was sold to Citi-Bank Property Investors.

At the request of Habitat Los Angeles I assisted with the restructuring of the LA affiliate which had been experiencing significant challenges. We optimized the existing real estate portfolio, created a new development schedule and reestablished a positive working relationship with the local agencies and building department. Managed the hiring of 6 new positions in the department and established a volunteer Construction Committee to assist the affiliate in reaching development goals. Instituted best practices for construction and project management using a customized Microsoft Projects program that integrated with the affiliates enterprise software. The Los Angeles affiliate became one of the most successful and largest affiliates in the country within a few short years and hosted the Jimmy Carter work project in 2007. I continued to serve on the board and as a volunteer. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL, Durban, SOUTH AFRICA Executive Director 2001-2003
Managed all financial, fund raising, administrative, volunteer and construction issues for the 2002 Jimmy Carter Work Project. Managed team of 22 full time employees and 40-50 volunteers in the Pre-Planning of the event. Directly responsible for fund raising over R19 Million Rand from individuals, corporations and foundations within South Africa. In Durban, South Africa 110 houses were built in 5 days, by 5,000 volunteers from all over the world. The project was on time and on budget.
PHOENIX AFFORDABLE HOUSING, Pretoria, SOUTH AFRICA Director of Development, Managing Director 1996-2001 At the request of the South African Government and the US Congressional Black Caucus, a joint venture with US based Associated Financial Corporation was created to develop two New-Towns in Soweto and Soshenguve. Each community consisted of 2,500 units of housing, as well as all required infrastructure and amenities. Responsibilities included the management and integration of American and South African personnel, including 9 full time employees, and dozens of professionals to ensure the successful planning, financing, and construction of each project. Supervised a team of accountants, bookkeepers and quantity surveyors, to manage all aspects of project accounting, job costing, estimating, procurement and logistics. Responsible for all corporate level HR and financial reporting, including external audits, all regulatory issues required by the local and federal government.
