Stephen J. Homola
Steve was on a work/study program at the University of Pittsburgh through Horix Engineering, a local consulting engineering company and graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. He continued in the engineering field while attending the University of Maryland as a full time evening student and graduated with honors with a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Steve entered candidates for PhD. Program in Business Entrepreneurship at the University of Louisville. He worked as a Project Development/Research Engineer for Universal Cyclops Corporation from 1971-1973. He moved to Maryland and was assigned as a Project Engineer/Manager for Morrison-Knudsen Construction Company from 1973-1976. Steve then worked as lead sales engineer for Johnson Controls from 1976-1980 and accepted a position with Computer Sciences Corporation from 1980-1982 as Sr. Principal Engineer. Steve was offered a tremendous opportunity to work with General Electric Company in charge of their West Coast Business Operations. His career with General Electric was from 1982 through 1987.
Steve moved to Kentucky in 1986 while still working with General Electric and decided it was time to take his experience and put it to work in his own business. Steve handled several merger and acquisition contracts independently and through one corporate re- structuring became a business partner in a manufacturing company, Systecon, Inc. located in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1989. Systecon manufactured pre-packaged water distribution and pumping systems for industrial and commercial markets. He then started his own business as an independent manufacturer-representative in 1993 whereby he was the President/CEO of MBH Equipment Sales, Inc. MBH was a significant competitor in the sales of Commercial/Industrial/Residential Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning Equipment. Steve has received outstanding business awards in 1997/98/99/and 2000. In 1994 Steve sold his equity in the manufacturing facility in Cincinnati and concentrated his full-time efforts to growing MBH into a market share leader in Kentucky and Southern Indiana for Commercial Heating and Air-Conditioning products.
In September 1999 Steve negotiated a sale of MBH Equipment to Carrier Corporation/Koch Air LLC. Whereby, as part of the buy-out arrangement, he would handle all transitional work of personnel and departments within the state of Kentucky in order to gain market share growth for Carrier Corporation in the state of Kentucky. Steve continued to consult small businesses on business planning and market direction and continued working as the Commercial General Sales Manager for Carrier/Koch Air LLC until the transition was completed in March 2001. At the request of Stephen Koenig, he joined Koenig Brothers LLC, a Louisville based mechanical contractor, in January 2002 as President and Chief Operating Officer. The purpose was to re-direct business operations toward long and short term goals and diversify the business into multiple business categories under the LLC structure. Steve ventured into a business enterprise of a patented design for Leak-less Toilet System
(Flo-Bowl Systems Company) in January of 2004. The system design eliminated the need for a wax ring seal and offered a variety of adaptations in any construction environment. The company worked with contractors and manufacturers in the North America. The system has been licensed for sale through Zurn Company in Jamestown, New York. This system has been sold and marketed throughout Asia and South America. Steve also provided the negotiation/sale and business transfer of Rhodes Machinery International, Inc., an Indiana corporation which manufactured factory automation conveyor systems targeted at Industrial markets in USA, Asia, South America, Europe, and Canada. Steve worked for Rhodes as their President/Chief Operating Officer for two years until an appropriate buyer was secured. Steve developed specific resident business representation in Italy, Spain, Poland, Brazil, China, Malaysia, Viet Nam and Cambodia. Steve continued to consult, concentrating in the construction and manufacturing industry, in aspects of standards of construction, Quality Control/Assurance, ISO 9000/9001/14001
(International Organization for Standards) Standards and Procedures, CPM (Critical Path Method) & PERT (Project Evaluation and Review Technique) scheduling and its affects to on time performance, quality assurance and enhancement, specification performance, and mediation of contracts. Steve also holds the highly coveted Black Belt Six Sigma in quality manufacturing standards.
Steve has senior member status of Association of Energy Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and senior member of the American Society of Heating and Air Conditioning Engineers. He has authored numerous articles and papers on Environmental Engineering, Lighting Technologies, Alternative Energy Resources, and Indoor Air Quality Issues.
He accepted in January 2007 the position of President/Chief Operating Officer for Accu- tec, International at the request of its CEO and founder, Jeff Davis. Accu-tec is a packaging contractor and distributor for durable and non-durable goods with operations located in the United States and Canada with international services across the world. Steve found a venue to satisfy his passion for environmental awareness and accepted to be part of the development of the World Clean Air Forest Initiative (WCAFI) www.wcafi.org The WCAFI is a non-profit, NGO based out of the United Kingdom that works towards a single goal to counter climate change, deforestation, and pollution that has a negative effect on the air.
Steve now is the founder, President/Chairman/CEO of Business Management Counseling Services. BMCS is a Kentucky corporation. BMCS has as its main mission to transform businesses from obstacles to prosperity. It focuses on Business Start-Up, Strategic Analysis, Business Buy/Sell, Crisis Management, Management Analysis, Management Development, Merger/Acquisition Services, Dispute Mediation, Business Recovery/Turnaround, and Marketing/Operations/Sales Planning. Steve resides in the Greater Louisville, Kentucky area and concentrates his business activities in the United States, Canada, and Latin America. Steve is very active in his church as Building Committee Chairman and Deacon. Steve is honored to be a Kentucky Colonel. He was also the 2008 Board President of the Louisville Emmaus Community and serves on its Executive Council as Chairman of its Advisory Committee. He, in 2012, accepted a Board of Directors membership, as President to REC of Louisville. REC is a non-profit organization that assists in giving a second chance to individuals that have been incarcerated within the prisons of Kentucky. They include Kentucky State Reformatory, Luther Luckett Correctional Complex, and Roderer Correctional Facilities. Steve also sits on the Kavanaugh Enrichment Center Board of Directors as its Treasurer and Financial Manager. Also, in 2018 Steve was awarded the prestigious award and membership into the General Electric “Order of Musketeers” for services rendered as consultant and advisor to their businesses in Locomotive, Jet Engine, and Appliances. In January 2019 he was awarded entrepreneur of the year in 2018 for his counsel to Pacific Packaging Company in greater Toronto, Canada.
Steve consults and advises businesses from small business (less than $1,000,000 annual receipts) to Fortune 100 Companies.
He is married to the former Constance Erickson for 51 years and has two adult children creating their own independent path in life.
