Internal Risk& Controls (IRC) handles monetary processing. Types of monetary transactions include
Deposits, Withdrawals, Transfers, Cash Advances, Payments, Payoffs, Interest Accrual, Fees
And Charge Offs. A transaction enters the system via a variety of Front-End applications or is generated internally by a posting system. The transaction posts to the Member’s account in one of the main Posting Systems. As the transaction travels through the Front End and Posting System, it is reflected in the General Ledger. For each movement of funds in the Front Ends or Posting Systems, there should be a corresponding set of two-sided GL entries. Every debit entry (or entries) will have a corresponding credit entry (or entries). The five major Member-account posting systems at NFCU are ALS (Advanced Loan Systems, IMPACS (Checking, Savings, Money Market Savings, and Checking Line of Credit), ST (CD and IRA), TSYS and MSP (Mortgage, Fixed Equity and Home Equity Line of Credit). All these systems reside in mainframe environment. IRC is the front line for all interactions with internal and external systems.
