I was one of the top recruiters for Procter & Gamble, hiring many candidates who would go on to become some of the top leaders in the company. In addition I helped develop performance evaluations for current executives. I helped develop hiring processes for our national account organization and retail operations. I helped launch such new products as Swiffer, Febreeze, and Iams Pet Food, which have grown to be major categories in the consumer products industry. We had record market shares. I also did organizational development, set up the retail operations role and wrote the training manual. In addition, I developed the non-food business development program and wrote the training manual. I also set up the first part-time sales rep program & wrote the training manual. My team was the first to use scan data to determine out of stocks and developed a REACH program for merchandising. In every position I had with P&G we had breakthrough results and led with servant leadership skills.

In addition, I have successfully generated outstanding results in the non-profit sector. I have helped raise over $10,000,000 in fundraising and successfully set up several new non-profit organizations as evidenced in articles in the Charlotte Observer and NBC news. LEADERSHIP, TEAMWORK & WORK ETHIC: Letter of Recommendation from Procter & Gamble Manager

To Whom It May Concern:

Charles Johnson worked for me at Procter & Gamble for several years up until I retired. Charles was in charge of operations for one of several units that comprised my Consumer Products organization. Charles’ responsibilities included overseeing our business at our largest customer. Charles had several sales and information technology people reporting directly to him. Additionally, he worked on a project basis with marketing, finance, and logistics people in my and our accounts’ organization.

Charles was a strong, well-balanced manager/leader, but his particular strengths were:

Creating long term productive relationships with his people and our customers

Developing long term plans and energizing others to support those plans; never being surprised or caught “flat footed”

Thoroughly training his people

Attention to detail and being well organized

Charles business results reflected his skills and dedication, but I was most impressed that while some others achieved outstanding results also, Charles’ people and customers seemed to enjoy the ride far more! As an aside, Charles is an excellent public speaker and is totally at ease in any situation.

Sincerely,

J. H. Miles, Manager, Consumer Products (retired Customer Business Development)
