Work Experience
Facility for Rare Isotope Beams, East Lansing, Michigan (Feb 2016 – Present)
[A US DOE-SC national user facility operated by Michigan State University] Process Engineer
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Non-conventional utility systems within the experimental systems division as a group leader
Led the commissioning of Non-Conventional Utility systems, including isotope harvesting and cleanup systems. Conducted detailed hydraulic analyses, P&ID development, process simulation, HAZOP/PHA analysis, and advanced technical calculations to optimize performance and ensure safety compliance.
Managed the installation, inspection, and thorough testing of a wide range of equipment, including hydrogen recombiners, ion-exchange columns, plate and frame heat exchangers, pumps, storage tanks, and piping systems.
HPCL Mittal Energy Ltd., Bathinda, India (Jan 2011 – Aug 2013)
[A 181,000 BPD refinery in the Public-Private Partnership] Assistant Manager
Established a solid foundation in leadership, business operations and project lifecycle management to commission a 181,000 BPD EIL designed CDU-VDU in 24 months by certifying clear installation and operational requirements
Identified inefficiencies to develop process flows and lead time impacts to reduce construction and installation costs while tracking deadlines. Realized $100,000 in savings by directing and prioritizing the activities of multi-disciplinary cross-functional teams to coordinate the design and fabrication of all piping and equipment.
Demonstrated capabilities of successful planning and execution of multiple projects by re-engineering technical specifications and assisting procurement teams in negotiating with suppliers and vendors to reduce acquisition costs by up to 15%.
Procon India Pvt. Ltd. (Apr 2010 – Dec 2010)
[Delhi based engineering consultancy]
Graduate Engineering Trainee
Acquired the skills and knowledge on the concept studies of Process Design, Detail Engineering and plant troubleshooting
Performed HYSYS simulation, Line sizing, hydraulic calculations, P&ID development and process calculations for equipment sizing and specifications and hazardous area classification for a 1,260 BPD ethanol plant
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Panipat, India (June 2009 – July 2009) Process Intern
Trained in the daily operations of the 50,000 BPD, Foster-Wheeler designed Delayed Coker Unit of the 241,000 Panipat refinery. Learnt several important concepts and functioning of key equipment. Project Undertaken
Study and Analysis of Process Line Pressure Drop.
Calculations and simulation conducted to
o Reduce the pressure losses by 16% in the pipeline from the second stage compressor to the main fuel gas header in the DCU. Scheme has since been successfully implemented o Modified the pipe design by reducing the total number of bends from 16 to 12 and improved the tray design using process simulations. Used Unisim and AutoCAD CB&I Lummus Heat Transfer, Delhi, India (May 2008 - June 2008) Process Intern
Gained familiarity with HTRI software by working on the design and study of heat exchangers for the energy loss and pressure drop calculations
Petronet LNG, Dahej Terminal (May 2007 - June 2007) Process Intern
Obtained a basic knowledge of the functioning of the LNG terminal. Analyzed and studied the actual ship unloading and transfer processes along with LNG pipeline distribution Projects
Resin Handling System Upgrade [at FRIB, Michigan]
Developed and executed upgrade plans for the resin handling system to address operational and maintenance challenges, enabling safe isolation, cutting, and removal of resin components.
Oversaw the installation, flushing, hydrotesting and hydraulic analysis of the newly implemented cleanup loop system, ensuring its seamless integration and optimal functionality. Hydrogen Recombiner Commissioning [at FRIB, Michigan]
Led the commissioning of the hydrogen recombiner by isolating the skid from the system and installing temporary spools to circulate precise gas concentrations for the operation and testing of associated equipment.
Calibrated hydrogen analyzers as a pre-requisite for successful hydrogen recombiner commissioning, ensuring accurate measurements and system readiness. Isotope Harvesting System Commissioning [at FRIB, Michigan]
Supervised the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of the isotope harvesting system, ensuring all project milestones were met.
Conducted hydraulic analyses of process lines and tested newly installed pumps; purged lines with nitrogen and maintained low residual pressure to ensure readiness for future operations. Education
