WORK EXPERIENCE

Director Operations (May 2023 – present), Custom Steam Solutions Inc., Paris, Ontario. Overall responsibility of company operations to manage custom manufacturing, engineering, inventory control, finance and project coordination of steam boiler applied equipment and systems, including deaerators, feedwater tanks, blowdown tanks, headers, piping and automation. Led in local design and manufacturing of sanitary and non-sanitary heat exchangers. Director Engineering and R&D (2020 – present)

Engineering Manager (2014 – 2019), Highland Equipment Inc., Toronto, Ontario.

• I managed and assumed ultimate responsibility for engineering design, estimation and quality assurance of a unique company specializing in engineering and fabrication of custom pressure vessels, mixing & storage tanks, other equipment, machines, piping and skid mounted process

& CIP packages for dairy, food, beverage and pharmaceutical industry.

• This is an ASME plant where I arranged and assured ASME stamp, CRN and National Board certifications for pressure vessels and piping. I design and control the quality of HTST, pasteurizing, CPP, CIP and SIP systems and skid mounted modules, in accordance with ASME Section VIIII, ANSI B31.3, ASME BPE, 3A and other relevant standards.

• Introduced new in-house product ranges in the company’s mixing technology repertoire

(hydrofoil mixers, high shear mixers, bottom entry dispersion mixers, counter rotating two- sha ft mixers, helical mixers).

• Added new engineering capabilities of computational fluid dynamics using ‘Fluent’ software to analyze, calculate and design knowledge-based products. Carried out supporting seismic structural calculations for tanks and pressure vessels using ASCE 7- 10/16 & NBC 2016.

• Led R&D activities for unique and novel equipment and process design and technically assisted with tax credit support claims for the purpose.

• Updated and maintained company’s QC Manual, welding procedures and other controlled procedures.

• Undertook 3-yearly ASME and TSSA audits to defend company’s U-stamp and five other TSSA certifications.

Engineering Manager (2007 – 2010), Yanbu Steel Company, Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. Engineering design of process columns, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, Horton spheres, reactors, requiring PWHT, HIC compliance, construction with difficult alloys, low and high temperature service, sour service etc. Design tank farm projects, including large tanks to API 650 & 620, piping, pumping systems, heating systems, firefighting systems, power distribution, instrumentation, control and monitoring system, ESD & pigging system. Tanks designed with rafter-supported geodesic and cone roofs, column-supported roofs, self-supported roofs, internal and external floating roofs. Senior Product Engineer, (1999 – 2007), Cleveland Range Ltd., Concord, Ontario. Lead design role for a US-based company’s range of products with multiple optional configurations, of industrial and commercial sized gas-fired, electrically-heated or direct steam-heated kettles, mixers, cookchill tanks and skillets. Designed and improved gas fired burners and combustion systems as well as for other products designed on the basis of ASME Section VIII pressure vessel code. Company products incorporate mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control systems as integral components. Founder and Managing Director (1990-1998), Team Consultants (Pvt.) Ltd., Karachi, Pakistan. Offered professional design engineering services in accordance with codes and standards for the following:

• Static equipment including pressure vessels, reactors, heat exchangers, storage tanks, piping, pipelines, material handling equipment, dryers & furnaces. Code-based design.
