Counselling Therapist (RCT-C, CCC), Diverse Roots Therapy, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. August 2023-Present
-Offering one-on-one counselling therapy services for individuals looking for support in areas including but not limited to sex, sexuality, gender, anxiety, stress, grief, depression, relationships, and emotional abuse. Throughout my work I take a Person-Centered approach and use Acceptance Commitment Therapy as my main framework.
Youth Program Facilitator, heART Mental Wellness, Halifax, Nova Scotia. October 2023-May 2024.
-Co facilitating youth programming through a mental wellness and art based lens for youth in Nova scotia. In this program I helped youth navigate issues and tailored my support to help assist their unique needs including but not limited to: family relationships and strains, concerns and issues as young queer people, assisting in neurodivergent needs, and offering guidance and support through difficult conversations. The goal of this program was to create a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and neurodivergent youth to explore their creative abilities, develop meaningful connections, and embrace new experiences.
Y Mind Facilitator, Y Mind, YMCA of Greater Halifax and Dartmouth, Halifax, Nova Scotia, September 2022-May 2023:
-Facilitating a free mental wellness group program for Teen’s (13-18) & Youth (18-30) using Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness tools.
-Delivering mental health programming over the course of seven weeks, encouraging youth to engage with peers, verbalize their concerns, and practice sharing in a safe space.
Camper Care Manager & Staff Mental Health Support, Big Cove YMCA, Thorburn, Nova Scotia, Summer, 2022:
-Providing mental health support for staff members in need of additional support. This included but was not limited to managing symptoms of stress, fatigue, feeling overwhelmed, disassociation, anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts/behaviours.
-Ensured the safety and wellness of campers experiencing distress or camper conflict during their time at camp. This included but was not limited to managing symptoms of anxiety (i.e.: panic attacks), depression, and suicidal thoughts.
-Managed and oversaw the responsibilities of the section director team, including the Junior Section Director (over saw campers aged 6-12), the Senior Section Director (over saw campers aged 12-15), and the Leadership Director (over saw campers aged 15-17).
