Teachers Retirement System of Ga. Atlanta, Georgia 30318 From: 4-1988 - To: 4-1998
1. Counsels members about their benefits at retirement and explain their options to them. Great communication skills are needed.
2. Assists members by researching and auditing the service on their account, locate missing service, and provide the appropriate cost calculation(s).
3. Accept applications for service and disability retirement. Submit Service retirement application to the Service Department of TRS.
4. Process disability applications myself. Research and determine if all medical information is attached to file. If nothing else is needed the file is sent to the medical board. 5. Within 3-4 weeks, once the file is received back from all 3 board members, if unanimously approved, the member is considered permanently disabled. 6. Notification is then sent to the retiree of the approval. The file is taken to the Service Department for processing.
